Seeing as how the second season of AMJL is coming up in about a month it seems like a good time to start this. Some of you might remember my earlier thread where I asked what his reaction would be if he found out now you can discuss how he will find out. Their seem to be a limited number of options.

His wife tells him: honestly I do not see this happening, if they have been married for what must be at least 14 years and she hasn't told him yet she isn't going to tell him. Every time it's brought up she goel like a little later. She most likely does intend to tell him later but just keeps putting it off.

He finds out on his own: In my opinion the most likely scenario, some circumstance will happen to cause him to discover the secret. This also has one of the best chances for character development.

He already knew: This in my opinion is the worst case scenario, he could retroactively reveal that he has always known in one form or another and just accepts it. They did this with Mary Jane in the comics and Static's father in Static Shock. Not only would this cheapen the moment but it's also an easy way out of the whole youve been decieving me for years deal.

So which one do you think is most likely, not only post your choice but please explain why you would like to see it.

Umm...I'm not sure. It would be best for him to find out on his own, as that would help develop his character (and he's in serious need of that).

Jake's dad should find out already. Keeping it a secret from him is one of the things about the show that isn't funny. IMO "American Dragon" is one of those shows that has potential, but it's unlikely that potential will be realized because of certain basic problems:

1. Clumsy animation

2. While Jake himself is kind of likeable (when the writers don't make him too over-the-top-full-of-himself), much of his supporting cast isn't. His girl buddy has a terrible voice, full of unconvincing and borderline insulting jive talk. His other buddy is a cipher, no personality whatsoever. And the damn dog is a complete ripoff of that pug from "Men in Black", and he's neither funny nor useful to the plot and I say to hell with him. But I do like his little sister and his mom FWIW. Plus his grandpa, although he's a bit dull IMO.

3. The mystical creatures Jake is supposed to protect come off as bad kid's-book illustrations, thanks again to clumsy animation and unimaginative character design. So we have little incentive to care about his mission.

JMHO.

I totally agree with Snailbait, But I guess the story might have been more interesting if Jake's dad had found out in the first series itself. Its totally unbelievable how Jake's dad doesn't find out the truth during that bonding weekend episode..

I agree that Jake's dad finding out on his own would develop his character that's why I think it is more likely to happen. I asked Steve Loter a question about it on a website he goes to and he said the issue of whether or not the family should tell him will be brought up.
