Uhhh... you do know that CNX is just a fan made site right?
Anyway, I've heard of Fushigi Yuugi but have never seen it. If you're suggesting the show for Toonami (an action block) how would you rate the action content of the show?
If you're suggesting it for another part of Cartoon Network, well give a reason why.

Um, yeahhhh...
Toonami, not CNX. The closest you're gonna get to Fuushigi Yugi on CNX is when the I go up to the gang and claim myself as the Priestess of Suzaku!
But with nothing even resembling Hotohori or Tamahome in the group, that ain't happening!
Now, ya want the show on Toonami? Well, let's see...action-wise, it's just a tad less than Tenchi Muyo, and some of the jokes just as, erm, adult...
And about as subtle in sexuality as the Haruka/Michiru relationship in SM.
So no, I can't even see this in Adult Swim (not enough action), and definately not in any Toonami block (same reason as above, and then some...)
And besides...you *WANT* to explain Nuriko to the kiddies?

LOL
I wonder how Toonami would handle THAT.

What? What?! What about this "Nuriko"? Now I need to know what's wrong with him...or her? I don't care if it's a spoiler, I wanna know!

Fushigi Yugi… my favorite topic right because I just got done with the entire series (Got the second box set for Christmas! ^_^).
Here is a summery of it that I took from Amazon.com because whenever I try to summerize anything myself I end up telling the whole story :) :
Like the heroine of Sailor Moon, Miaka is a ditzy 15-year-old girl who's crazy about junk food and boys. She and her scholarly friend Yui find an ancient Chinese volume, The Universe of the Four Gods, about a girl "who made her dreams come true after she came to possess the seven stars of Suzaku," and are literally drawn into the book. Miaka is hailed as the girl from another world destined to become the priestess of Suzaku, the protecting deity of the Empire of Konan. She soon finds herself caught in a web of adventures, magic, deadly perils, intrigue, and counterintrigue.
Miaka gains the affection of the seven Celestial Warriors of Suzaku: martial artist Tamahome; the exquisite emperor of Konan, Hotohori; the transvestite Nuriko; sorcerer-in-training Chichiri; mountain bandit Tasuki; physician Mitsukake; and the flute-playing Chiriko. The Warriors and the Priestess are all needed to summon Suzaku to save Konan from an invasion from the rival kingdom of Kutuo. Complicating matters are Yui's estrangement from Miaka and their rivalry for the dashing Tamahome.
I can answer a lot of the questions… but it is kind of hard to do without giving away anything.
“Anyway, I've heard of Fushigi Yuugi but have never seen it. If you're suggesting the show for Toonami (an action block) how would you rate the action content of the show?”
It actually does have a pretty good amount of action in it, which was a pleasant surprise for me when I was watching it. I disagree with it having less action in it than Tenchi Muyo. There are at least three big fight scenes I can think of in the first season (Tamahome vs Tasuki/Tasuki vs Nakago/ Tamahome and Chichiri vs Nakago ext. – If you have seen the show you will know what scenes I am talking about hopefully) and tons in the second season with the final scenes at the end having the most action. Granted they are not on the same level as DBZ, but that is because the show is not action oriented. The show is filled with so much drama dealing with love, friendships, betrayal, death… if it was actually shown on Adult Swim/Toonami I am sure it would keep you entertained. I really do recommend this series because I really enjoyed it. Oh… and when I was watching it I thought the first season was great but the second season was just fantastic! It was much faster paced and very dramatic.
“What? What?! What about this "Nuriko"? Now I need to know what's wrong with him...or her? I don't care if it's a spoiler, I wanna know!”
Believe me… you don’t want to know anything about Nuriko until you have actually watched the series. It will be so much better that way… I promise you. :)
Now… as for the question of whether or not this would be good for Toonami, I would have to say no. There is SO much they would have to edit out and most of it is very crucial to the plot of the story. They cover up most of the nudity I suppose… but that would probably ruin the impact of some of the scenes. Aside from the nudity… there are also quite a bit of things that I doubt they would cut. This series deals with many intense topics like attempted rape, death, Nuriko… that I know would be hard to edit out (and should NOT be edited out). I could kind of see this on Adult Swim because of how good they were with Cowboy Bebop… but I really don’t ever see them airing it.
So… Fushigi Yugi is definitely a series I would recommend (especially to the girls out there although I do have quite a few male friends who also enjoy it). If you have the money to buy the series I would suggest the boxset. :)

No offense to the great works of Yu Watase (I'm still watching Ceres), but I don't feel her shows would "fit" on Toonami. Make no mistake, they're good shows, but Toonami is more heavily action-oriented (City-smashing giant robots, SSJ death-matches, etc.). Fushigi Yuugi would be more suited for an Adult Swim-age audience, as oppossed to the 4-14 male demograph Toonami seems to aim-towards.

Last time I checked, I wasn't 4-14
Do you mean I'm skewing Toonami's demographics? :D

True, those are more like "CC's personal assessment of the average age of the Toonami fanboy" ;)
Ah, the 2-11 Demo... "Kids Love It!" indeed. :)

*laughs* Good to hear it! :p
(CC notes to refrain from further generalizations based on Nielson Ratings) :)

We're breaking the mold! I'm 16! and I hear ZeroYuy is 49! She owns a comic book store that no one visits in her village with a population of 34.

Yeah, I always found that amusing. Toonami was uber-keen on how well they were doing with the 2-11 Demograph via the Nielson ratings... and yet everyone visiting CNX, and my ol' stompin' hole Toonami Xperience were in there teens and 20's. Which Toonami was virtually ignoring. They need to shift their focus on an older target-audience, IMO. Shoot for the same demo Adult Swim does. Like the slowly decreasing Pokemon and its dopplegangers, DBZ won't keep the Absolution afloat forever. :yakko:
