With DCAU coming to a close, who didn't get enough screen time that you thought should have had SOME screen time.
For me a few come to mind.
#1.) Green Latern(s): Hal Jordan / Kyle Rayner
We obviously saw Kyle Rayner BECOME the Green latern in Super: TAS. Very little was ever explained why we got John Stewart although I don't think anyone really disagrees with that decision. I would have liked to see a real episode that high lighted Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner as opposed to neat references about them.
#2.) Firestorm
Firestorm has a really neat back story and I would have loved an episode or so to sit back and highlight that. Honestly, I don't think it really even ever needed to be a JLU episode but an episode in Superman:TAS would have been fitting. He did get some screen time, but I think its fair to say NO ONE knew he was.
#3.) Red Tornato
No Backstory what so ever. He got his fair share of screen time but we never learnt who or what he was. In the totality of the series, seeing him blow up in one of the early JLU episodes and never explaining that he was a machine and magically seeing him return must have freaked a few people out. At least with Captain Atom, we saw him being "refueled".
#4.) Dr. Fate
He had his episode in Superman: TAS that really highlighted A LOT about him and he had a fair amount of screen time here and there. He honestly had some really great scenes but I always found myself wanting to see more of him.
#5.) Steel
He had a great backstory introduced in Superman: TAS and got some screen time but certainly nothing impressionable. This is one character that had some great depth built up around him and just never returned beyond cameos.
#6.) Nightwing / Batgirl
Where are they in ALL of JL/JLU. Ok, I don't expect any proactive roles from either, but they were a very big part of a very large portion of the DCAU. I think both deserved AT LEAST a reference of where they are or what they are doing; especially with Batgirl since there was something of a romance going between Bruce and Barbara. I think that was a necessary thing to have screen time for to explain why that relationship had dispated making way for the romance between Bruce and Diana.
No one else really comes to mind and I dont want to throw out a few other arbitary names just to get a nice even number of 10 hehe. So who did I miss? Who else should have had some screen time? Do you agree with the ones I have?
7.There's the Riddler. He did have three episodes, but he didn't have any major appearances since the end of the first animated series, and I think he was never used to the greatest of his potential. There were plenty of Bat-villains who couldn't make it to JLU, but Joker and Clayface were already in Justice League, and most other Bat-villains got adiquate sceen-time in The New Batman Adventures and some even in Batman Beyond. Don't think he'll be a threat to the Justice League due to lack of superpowers? I'd love to see Bruce Timm and co prove that wrong.

Well, Batgirl got a mentioning in Comfort And Joy and NW was sighted with the gargoyles in...yeah I can't remember what that JLU ep was called.
And for Barb and Bruces relationship I just always thought it was kinda wrong. I can imagine Barb being slightly po'd at Bruce Waynes playboy women, or having him date Cathy Ducane in MOTB, after she has called him to make sure they are still an item.
I know it was JLU not TNBA but what I recent the most is the absence of Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing. They are part of Batman and they will always be, a episode featuring all of them would had been enough but oh well. I know about the bat embargo, I know the producers said they didnt feel like needing any of them for JL stories but It just looks weird they arent part of the League at all. Nighwing got at least a mega fast cameo but I hardly call that an appearance.

Crimson Avenger - especially with the cool redesign for Patriot Act.
Aztek - he could've fit very well into one of the Lex Luthor storylines.
Creeper - Etrigan came back a few times, surprised Creeper didnt.
Dr. Light - one of those supporting roles that gets you juiced for a major appearance.
Elongated Man - three supporting appearances and no spotlight? Com'on!
Last ones a mild spoiler for Destroyer:
Johnny Thunder/Thunderbolt - I did a double-take when I saw the pink genie walking down the steps in one of the closing shots. He hasn't shown up at all since the Booster Gold ep, bit odd to just see him pop outta nowhere

Well they got their references, as was just cited above.
As for appearances -- hell we're lucky we got the NW siloutte.
Remember the Bat embargo? So that's why we barely even got anything about them. Much as we might have liked to see them.
But I liked that the team had to use new charcters in the show.
I would have liked to see Dr. MidNite, Hourman, Sand, Atom Smasher (hmm, JSA much? :P) and the Ray.
Ray esp. would have been cool....

Hello People! where's the Specter love? A pivitol character in DC mythos and we don't even get a hint that he even exists?!
Eradicator, Cyborg-Superman, and Zod all would have been nice to see in the DCAU
I also a little bit wanted to see Imperiex handled in the DCAU. A streamlined Bruce Timm approach to "Our Worlds At War" would have probably rocked our faces off.

Not much was ever done with Fire, and her budding attraction with the Flash never went anywhere.
While Mr.Terrific was featured several times, we never really learned anything about the character.
In terms of characters whose voices we heard, I wish more had been done with Aztek, Dr. Light, and Crimson Avenger. And it was a bit of a waste to cast Jeremy Piven as Elongated Man and then give him so little to do. There really should have been an Elongated Man episode.
And lastly, there's a score of visually intriguing characters who were never really explored or utilized as anything besides visual cameos.
* Atom Smasher
* Blue Devil
* Crimson Fox
* Dr. Mid-Nite
* Gypsy
* Hourman
* Ice
* Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt
* Nemesis
* Obsidian
* Rocket Red
* Sand
* Starman
* (Commander) Steel
* The Ray
* Vibe
* Waverider
Anyone of these guys or gals could have become a break-out star on the order of the Question or Green Arrow or even Shining Knight, had they been given captivating personalities. But exploring all of these characters would have required more episodes than JLu was given. The show had so many stories left to tell that if the writers ever ran out of ideas for another Shayera or Batman episode, they could always turn to a neglected figure like Aztek or Starman. That's part of why I'm so grieved to see JLU end. It means an end to our further adventures in the DC universe. When's the next time you'll see someone like Atom Smasher in animation?

You're right. Which is why I so vigorously disagree with those who think that there wasn't anything left to do with JLU. They still had a huge cast that could have been developed. And sadly, 99% of them will never be seen on an animated show again.

Little was done with Fire. Less was done with Ice. Rocket Red also had very few appearances. I had hoped that we'd get an episode that would serve as an homage to the '80s Justice League International using some of these characters. Sadly, twas not to be. I suppose the Booster Gold episode will have to be enough.
The JSA characters were also used very little.
Also, I would like to point out that the only line that Crimson Avenger has gotten in the whole show was: "Pardon me, ma'am, have you seen this pig?"

The overall thing that sucks beyond the nastologia of the whole ending of a 14 year continuity is that it feels like TPTB around DC/WB are hell bent on starting a completely new continuity in "The Batman" universe.
The thing that sucks is the current continuity has so much established already and to bring some of these characters back that we're talking about or even to highlight on them means new introductions, new role establishment, new this, new that and basically its like starting over.
Although I wont dispute "The Batman" isn't doing too too bad (some things feel more animeish then the Bruce Timm universe), its the whole idea its work to bring out all these characters again.
Thats probably the biggest 'sadness' in all this. The Bruce Timm universe just got the point we could start seeing the lesser known characters without hurting the story too much.

And how they were so bugged over WB being hell-bent over esatblishing a new continuity with TNBA that didnt draw on the comics. A blue-faced Two-face? A blonde Selina Kyle? Dick Grayson wearing Tim Drake's outfit. Gasp

Meh, personally I prefer the DCAU continuity but it doesn't look like my preferences are being considered by TPTB :-\

Meh, personally I prefer the DCAU continuity but it doesn't look like my preferences are being considered by TPTB :-\Hehe. In my case, I never missed a single BTAS episode, yet I *****ed about how different it was every time. That went on til Justice league season 1. As JLU came, I fell in love with the Timmverse and came to prefer it to the comic continuity.

I thought I heard somewhere that Firestorm would make an appearance. Nothing at all. Oh, and no Blue Beetle. You can't have Booster Gold without Blue Beetle.

I've always wanted Atom Smasher to get a starring role, since I'm pretty curious about his character. As someone mentioned before Aztek would have been cool character to know about.

Considering that the JLU consisted of alot of JSA members & that the vast majority rarely got any screen time or were hardly heard asides from Wildcat, Star & Stripes & maybe Mr Terrific, you'd think that a "JSA TAS" would've been the next DCAU series instead of " Superboy & the LOSH'. I think the vast majority of us would have prefered to see episodes featuring
Atom Smasher
Wildcat
Flash - Jay Garrett
GL- Alan Scott
Mr Terrific
Star & Stripes
Johnny Thunder
Sand or is it sandman?
Dr Fate
Captain Marvel
Black Adam
Dr Midnight
Hawkman & Hawkgirl
Hourman
Atom
How I woulda loved to see an BT.DCAU series featuring all these great characters. At least they snuck in Gentleman Ghost & look how cool it was to see him animated! At the very least, it would be awesome if we could get a JSA DCAU DTV movie in the near future from B.T. & co!

Honestly, I dont know why the DCAU isn't making an anthology for the series.
That just seems like the next most logical step :sweat:

Agree, Riddler is a very intresting and good villian and I was a bit dissapointed he wasn't given any own episodes in TNBA instead of just a few cameos in other epiosdes. Would've loved to see a couple more appearnces by the Mad Hatter as well.

Etrigan really got his due in "A Knight of Shadows", but like others I was hoping to see the returning S:TAS/TNBA guest-stars have a bit more limelight in the expanded roster...namely...
#5.) Steel
He had a great backstory introduced in Superman: TAS and got some screen time but certainly nothing impressionable. This is one character that had some great depth built up around him and just never returned beyond cameos
Steel did appear in "The Return" and "Panic in the Sky" with Supergirl, which I found rather nice, given they both had links to Superman and all, but again...without Michael Dorn to voice him, his few lines did little to make an impact.
The Creeper was a perfect candidate for a spotlight episode, or so I thought. Funny character, but given how long it took for them to come up with a story where he seemed to fit (It took for B:TAS to TNBA for them to think up "Beware the Creeper") I'm not surprised they veered away from dealing with him again.
Zatanna only got one episode...now THERE'S a surprise! She's pretty much beloved in the fanbase, and the producers seemed to like her alot. Well, at least her one episode was a good one. Part of me, though, wonders if it would have been more beneficial for the writers to reunite her with Batman in order to undo the unwanted flirting between him and Diana. I certainly thought they were going to go down that road in the months leading up to "This Little Piggy" based on what Dini had said in interviews about "two characters going from being friends, to lovers, and then back", or something to that effect.
Kyle was a cool but unnecessary character, at least in JL/JLU. I mean, it's not like it would have been a bad episode if they'd made one all about him, but he's the other human GL. Kilowog is at least interesting to look at, you know?
I'm rather bummed Amazo had this great arc until his disappearance partway through "The Return", simply because the writers no longer knew what to do with him.
And Orion? Well, can't say much about that until Saturday, in all fairness, but my mentionning him probably says enough.
The simple truth is, I think we'll all disagree based simply on the fact that everyone has a soft spot for different characters. The Legion really mean nothing to me, but I'm sure it was great for some folks to see them again. Aztec? Gypsy? Johnny Lightening? Why even put them in the backgrounds?
At the end of the day, I have to be happy with what we did see from my personal favorites. But these were the ones I was hoping to see more from...

Riddler would have definately been fun in the Legion, but the Hatter's been retired in honor of Roddy McDowell, who voiced him so well.
