Big news folks! AMC (American Movie Classics) is showing the 1960s Batman movie tonight at 9:35 p.m. (central time, cuz that's the one I live in)!
For anyone who doesn't know or remember, this is the movie based on the TV series, and features Batman and Robin taking on The Penguin, The Joker, The Riddler and Catwoman.
If for one am super-excited and wanted to make sure you all found out! :D

It'll be worth watching just for that one scene in Commssioner Gordon's office. The one where they start putting clues together.

"A thought strikes me, so dreadful I scarcely dare give it utterance." - Gordon when they figure it out.
Wow I love this movie! :D Even thought it is campy, this was favorite show when I was younger and they were were showing repeats. With no cable yet this was the best show at my house.
This is where The Penguin was at his best. He is clearly the lead villian in this movie (think of the submarine).
The series and movie is were I first really started to like the Penguin, and even exposed to Batman in general.

I was exactly the same way!! When I was younger I took it way too seriously (I even cheered for the Penguin) but now it's just really funny.
Let's try changing this to a talkback for those who either remember the movie or saw it tonight.
To celebrate seeing the movie again I'm changing my sig to a Penguin quote from the movie. Yah!

Me too, totally. I took is completly seriously, and had no idea it was supposed to be campy (probably because I had no idea what campy was).

Does anybody else think the ending for the movie was really weird?(and for this show, that's saying something) I mean, it's really pretty much-
"Holy screw up, Batman!"
"Yes, Robin, lets sneak out the back before anyone thinks to blame us."

My favorite line:
Robin -- "It happened at sea, see? 'C' for Catwoman!"
Yeah, sure Robin...'C' for Catwoman. Great connection! She must be involved! :)

I remember I use to rent the video tape from a now long gone rental place (curse you Blockbuster). First time I brought the tape up to the counter to rent, the clerk tried to correct me and say this was not the Tim Burton feature film. I told him I was well aware, and slapped down my bills.
They guy behind the counted must of thought I was crazy, I most have rented it a dozen times. You just can find stuff like that anywhere else.
Anyone ever catch Legends of the Super-Heroes from 1977? I recently picked it up, and couldn't believe such a show had existed. It took cheese to a whole new level.

What kind of extras does the DVD have?
BTW I found a really good pic of the villians on imdb. Here's the link.

As scary as it sounds now, the 60's Batman show was my introduction to the character when I was little...
I remember seeing the Burton film and going....this isn't like the TV show...
=D
I was dum back then.

ok, I've been thinking..(scary, I know) but what would have happened if it had been B:TAS's Batman & Robin dealing with the Bad Guys from this movie?
I think the biggest problem for them would be....most of the movie took place durring the day!!! =O

Hmm..that'd be scary.
I dunno how many of you saw "Legends of the Dark Knight", but it was done in Retro Style and Miller style. Really good ep...
Also, there was a comic where batman had to "fight" the retro guys.
Still..it'd be...scary..

I LOVE that movie!! The DVD is awesome, anyone who doesn't have it needs to get it, it's not very expensive. I used to watch reruns all the time on Family channel and FX, but now they don't come on anymore. I think they came on SciFi for like a month, but now they don't come on anywhere. Like most everyone else here, I used to really get into it, but now it's just fun to watch. Burgess Meredith is the ONLY Penguin to me!! He was perfect for that role. :)

that show was my introduction to batman actually and I was little so I was too stupid to realize it was campy, I didn't notice anything cheesey about it, but hey kids are stupid :p, but I still love that show its so great, I was wondering why Fox hasn't realesed the series on DVD, I mean if Mash can get on DVD so can 60s batman, but I think know why...I heard Warner now owns the rights to the show...so don;t ever expect it on DVD.
PS Warner if you guys are reading this-
I still hate you...Batman TAS is a step in the right direction, but its a step that should have been taken YEARS ago...its pathetic such a big company is so cheap

I totally agree with you! Burgess will always be the Penguin to me. He is the reason that the Penguin is my favorite Batman villian. I don't really even have a stellar reason why. Just the way he played the character was awesome.
Anyone notice how his top hat almost never fell off?
