Rejoice, fans! http://www.comingsoon.net reported:

Boy, what the difference a fan-base can make. It looks like all the complaints from "Star Wars" fans have paid off, and for what reason - heck if we know. Members of *NSYNC will not be seen in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones".

'John' alerted us this morning that singer Joey Fatone called into the Carson Radio Show (99.3 FLZ) with word that the group had been cut from the film, saying "I'm going to make it officially known they dropped it because people made a big deal about it...we stopped by the set and it was like a little small thing and we're not going to be in it, and I'm not going to comment on it anymore."

Sweet....I now don't hate the band entirely..why? cuz they cut themselves... :D

But...ya know what this means? We'll probably get that as a deleted-scene on the DVD

I hope they put that scene on the DVD. I still wanna see them get blow'd up.

Hmm. Joey didn't sound too happy about that. Good. :D

Good to see that fans can make a difference and that someone out there is listening...

although I don't see anything wrong with a scene portraying them being killed! :D

Well, they can take comfort in having been in "On the Line"... :p

George Lucas must know that he's on thin ice with his fans, so he's more likely to bow to pressure (note that Jar-Jar has only a small cameo).

I almost feel bad for N'Sync. They were nice enough to agree to die in their scene. I hope that it's on the DVD.

Lucas didn't cast them. the producer (McCallum) did. Lucas had nothing to do with it.

Just thought I'd say that... :)

and I do sorta feel bad for N*Sync now. I mean, they would've died for cryin' out loud!

UNLESS..they are still going to be in it, but since they said they WEREN'T..we won't notice them....

I'm sure it`ll be hyped for the DVD release. I hear that the DVD for SW: Ep2 will follow "regular DVD release" practices - meaning it'll be released like any other hit movie about 5 - 6 months after the movie opens.

I almost feel bad for Joey Fat One... well, no, no I don't. ::insert Nelson laugh here:: Thank you, movie gods. We've got enough pop cameos in movies this year, this topping them as the worst, so I won't lose any sleep over that cut. I'll take a *NSYNC death scene on DVD, tho... Can't deny them a proper ending :D

Somehow this really doesn't surprise me. It felt like one of those rumor type things that get circulated and never transpired.

This isn't a rumor - it was true - well is true. They're just cut from the film now. And I['m glad. Ther SW franchise has made it aso far without resorting to cheap tricks like super star guest stars and the like. No need to do that now.

Calhoun07

I know it wasn't a rumor. It just felt like something you hear that people say will happen but never does. Kinda like a Batman Beyond live action movie. You know the stories you hear about it are true, but you just know in your heart of hearts that it will never happen. I knew deep down that Star Wars wouldn't give into such a publicity stunt (or is it too late? They already got plenty of publicity over this!)

N'Sync? In Star Wars? Oh good God. Isn't that like one of the Horsemen of the Apocolyps or something? :D

But seriously, now... N'Sync + Movie = (I think I have to quote the Rainman, who said it best) "BAD, BAD, VERY BAD" :)

But to see them die...Hm... THAT would've been interesting. DIE, YOU PREPPY LITTLE JERKS, DIE!! >ahem< (...and yes I DO have issues...) >smiles<

Well, in either case. >does a jig< I'm so happy! N'Sync is not going to be wasting our space in Star Wars! Wee hee! Not that I'll see it anyway, but that's beside the point...>grins<

Well, a big thanks-a-lot to all the people who complained about this. NOW I'll have to wait until next summer for the DVD to see N'Sync die! (This sentence edited for its graphic, and frequent use of the unspeakable "F-word")

I too read this info on Aintitcool news and Dark Horizons.
It looks like the fanboys (and girls) may have the force on their side! Now if they could only have a Obi-Wan buck naked scene....
But seriously, I am overjoyed, and I now have a bit more faith in Lucas pulling this movie off, it maybe a lot better than Menace.
:)
Bring it on, Lucas!!

Jedi Kane has spoken. :bosko:

*Stands and applauds for the fans of Star Wars*

I'm going to go and tell my archnemesis, who has a fake marriage license with JC Chasez, this. She'll hate me even more! yay!

The only sad thing about this is we'll have to wait even longer to see N'Sync blown to bits. Oh well...the dream lives on.

i wonder how they reacted when someone told them "sorry you can be in star wars because the fans dont like you." :) priceless...

If only Lucas would change his mind about the title, now.

Although watching any boy band disappear behind a vapor cloud, permanently, would be great, it has no place in a Star Wars movie and it's therefore better that it just not be there to begin with. Good call.

Quick! Everyone start posting about Jarjar getting stuck in a blender!

"Whatsa dis be? WHOAOAOAOAOA!"

I'm hoping that AOTC will be the last time we see Jar Jar. He just doesn't fit. Yeah - he's a really neat digital character in presentation...but everything else is severly lacking...

I would of loved to of been there when they told N'Sync they were going to be cut out of the movie. Now I can finally just focus on the story again.

But if the scene was so small, how do we know they're not just saying that so we'll stop bugging them?

Ah...hopefully, N'Sync realizes how much people really do hate them now. It must have gotten a lot of bad responses.
Remember the Spidey-genetic-webbing? For Spider-Man? That had a lot of complaints, but they still went on with it.

Eh, still seems like much ado about nothing to me, considering they were hidden in the background for a fraction of a second... ah well, at least people won't freak out about it anymore.

Yes I remember his defiance when TPM came out to the anti-JarJar saying that JarJar would feature in the next movie - now it's just a minor cameo.

I think Lucas has to be careful with this. SW is now a cult and as such people who have the power of being a 'celeb' will want to pop into the production for both personal and professional gain.

However I think it's a MASSIVE victory for the voice of the people. NSYNC's backers probably also had a nice profitable deal riding on their appearance (a song based on the movie wouldn't have surprised me) and it's all fallen through.

Words can't express (swear words could but they're banned) how good this feels.

NSYNC:
Har ******* har. I hope you feel really pathetic now you know NO ONE wants to see you in the movie. No one who likes the movie ( the movie I imagine the 'band' adores) likes YOU - I hope that fact pierces that giant EGO and for a brief second you all realise the world doesn't love you as much as your manager says we do. We HATE you.

And so does Han Solo.

:p

actually...from the way it was annouced..

N*Sync cut themselves. It sounded as if they didn't want to tick the star wars fans off..

and for that..I tip my hat to them

Yeah, I know this is an N'Stink thread, but I figured I'd address the Jar Jar situation. Ahmed Best, the voice and movements of Mr. Binks, won't be in Episode II. From what I was told, he was in a serious car accident, almost killed. Kinda ironic seeing as everyone hated Jar Jar, but I feel bad for the guy. I guess that's part of the reason he's only got a cameo. I think the guy that did the voice of Roger Rabbit is voice Jar Jar this time...

That really does suck. I wish no harm on the actor, just the lousy character he plays. That's really kind of sad.

Failure
01-11-2002, 01:59 AM
Wow, I had no idea either. I didnt have a problem with Ahmed Best's voice acting, I thought that was fine, it was just the character that was written poorly. Hopefully he'll get better.

Yeah, I agree. Star Wars fanboys are waaaaaay too sensitive.

Makes no difference. Seperating reality from fantasy is something I hope that no one here has a problem with. Whatever unfortunate circumstance the actor was in has no reflection on my dislike for Jar Jar. To be fair to the guy, he probably did a pretty accurate interpretation of what Lucas wanted.

It was Lucus' idea which stunk.

Question is, was it the result of the actor's accident that kept Jar Jar out of episode II - or was it Lucas' judgement on the fans reaction to the character?
