I've been wondering this since the Batman/Superman days... where does Superman get his resources? Where did he get the resources (and find the time) to build the Fortress of Solitude? Do Earth's health organizations even have any idea that he has potentially environmentally deadly (and potentially hazardous to humans) animals in there?

Another major question is, where on Earth does he get all those robots of him???

On the animated show I think that it's salvage from the Collector's ship (maybe from Brainiac's ship as well). If he needs anything else I'm pretty sure that STARLabs could hook him up.

Good point. I bet that STAR Labs paid him for all those experiments he did for them by giving him all those robots...

I believe he built them himself, or found a way to build them from the info stored within his little kryptonian baby capsule (the one he was sent to earth in). According to the S:TAS timeline, he probably got it from the collector's ship like previously stated. But I think in the comics he just stored them like zoo cause he felt bad for all the other lone survivors of the universe. Anyways, I don't know what is there now in the comics, they might flushed all that down the toilet once Crisis of Infinite Earths came in and Krypto, Supergirl, and Superboy got offed.

yeah it wasnt much more than the braniac thing originally then supes added the zoo

in the animated series it really wasnt the massive fortress that it is in the regular comics

He pilfers Bruce's stuff out of the batcave when he's out. Notice how he was eyeballing those old batsuits in 'The Call'. "Yeah, my robots will look snappy in those threads".

I always thought that it could have been more massive, but they didn't have to many episodes that featured it, :(. By contrast, the Batcave looked massive because it was in every other episode of BTAS and we got to see other areas of it. I would think that the Fortress of Solitude was at least around the same size as the Batcave.

Superman doesn't really need a huge fortress, though. I think that might have been a good thing for STAS, then we didn't have to wonder about how he got all of this stuff to the Antarctic or how he financed it, it was just stuff from his adventures involving Braniac & the collector. In the animated series, Batman has his Batcave to do all kinds of research & experimentation, whereas Superman just has the Fortress of Solitude as kind of a place to get away from things, make a bowl of popcorn, and pop a DVD into the Braniac computer.

when legacy first came out, some people thought maybe the superman robots were provided by wayne industries. i mean, where else would they come from? superman was gone, so no star labs hookups, so that just left supergirl and the kents to get help from someone. im sure bruce offered his help to them. peace.

by massive i meant in terms of weaponry, walls etc

remember the size of the collectors ship? superman took EVERYTHING out of it to make that zoo-- something tells me that the zoo was larger than what was shown

in terms of size id say that the fortress puts the batcave to shame-- but the batcave has been more "developed" by wayne with improvements etc than has the fortress by Kal

I think a nice combo of everything above coupled with Clark's very quick brain accounts for Clark's resources. But still, right when I read this thread's subject I was like, "Yeah! What about that huge zoo he keeps those animals in!" Hehehe.

I'm sure it could account for those Superman robots too, although personally I thought that was a strange story part of Legacy. I would have had it a bit more logically in that Supergirl just used the resources SHE had to make a quick Clark robot. That wouldn't be too far fetched, I don't think.

Now if Clark helped provide for that kick arse outerspace HQ that the JL team uses, then THAT would give us reasons to raise some questions!
