View Full Version : In Fall of 2006 Saturday morning CN could make a name for itself

Thus far Ben 10 is the only notable success for the block but Zixx up to season 3 has been aquired along with a few other aquisitions that seem quite likely for the block. With the recent decision to take Pokemon off KWB the premieres could very well take this block to new heights. Throw the new Fantastic Four into the equation and you could have quite a block and worthy of expanding to 8-12.
08:00 - Robot Boy
08:30 - Juniper Lee / other CN original
09:00 - Pokemon (brand new episodes)
09:30 - HTDT (new series)
10:00 - Ben 10 (season 3)
10:30 - The Fantastic Four (new series)
11:00 - Zixx (season 3)
11:30 - Dragon Hunters (well it's coming back, maybe it'll last)
You've got home grown and imports and a nice variety as well. I really think they could make something out of that slot this Fall.

Hopefully CN will take pokemon back, and skip that 100+ episode gap that they left (yeah I remember they left us at JOHTO JOURNEY!). That looks like a great prediction though.

I really think they could make something out of that slot this Fall.I could really see that happening which means it may never happen because knowing CN as we all do then this is something CN wouldn't even consider. But I would really love to see this happen because the Saturday morning block has been going down the tubes. This lineup would be the best thing around because Jetix isn't much of a competition for anything and without pokemon on KWB their Sat. block is a waste.

If CN did take the show, they would start at Season 9, which was supposed to air this Fall on KidsWb before the announced cancellation.
This would be a great ideal schedule, but we all know CN is nuts nowadays, so I guess we can't expect much.

Like I said before, if they want this block to work, they must advertize it as a block, not the "Ben 10 Event". They are also going to need to create some sort of branding, so kids can identify it as a Saturday morning block.

Sounds good, but CN needs to do something about the 100+ eps between Johto and Season 9. The below summer schedule could catch them up, along with an hour each day.
8.0 Pokemon
8.5 Pokemon
9.0 Ben 10
9.5 Robot Boy
10.0 Zixx
10.5 Dragon Hunters/Juniper Lee

So, no Grim, no Foster's, no Kids Next Door, no Amy Yumi, and no monkey butt show. The good news is, kid, you're battin' a thousand! The bad news is, it's for the other team. A 100% action Saturday morning is certain to fail. I personally wouldn't watch it.

That's far from 100% action. Almost all of those "action shows" are action/comedy hybrids. It looks about as balanced at this years KWB to me.
CN would be wise to air action oriented Saturday programing given that Nick airs nothing but comedy at that time.
And yes Pokemon Johto should air. I was thinking Pokemon Advance could air on Miguzi, Pokemon from the begining could be on weekday mornings over summer and Pokemon Johto could be for an hour on Saturday (and maybe Sunday).
Actually an hour of fresh Pokemon pre-Toonami would work pretty well if Saturday mornings are still a no go (as it's still on KWB at that time currently). I just don't want it on Toonami.

Me neither. "Foster's" and "Monkey" are worth watching IMO - the former is developing nicely and the latter has potential that will hopefully be realized. Right now those two shows, along with "Ben 10", are my CN faves.
As for "Fantastic Four", well, I'm not exactly a-quiver. Could be good, could reek. I'd be interested in seeing the character designs. If they're on a par with "Justice League", I might give the show a look-see.

I've always wondered why the Thing spraypainted a 4 on his chest... lol.
Anyways, they have a span of the entire summer to show 100+ Eps. 1 a day, and 2 on the weekends isn't enough. Two a day before, say, Naruto, might work.

What does CN air right now at Saturday mornings?
Your line up sounds very lively, a variety of different shows all mashed together! ;)
Great Animated Pic of Fantastic Four! CN should air that on Saturday too! :D

Pokemon is quite popular...in a way with some the younger kids and that's where CN needs that demographic. I mean this is a chance of a lifetime to get Pokemon on CN and restart with season nine with new episodes. If not, you just killed a show that had spunk and a sizable franchise with notable companies backing it. Hopefully CN will keep its action block on Saturdays. They don't really have that much execpt for Cartoon Cartoons and we don't need another replay of Fridays on Saturday mornings.

what is htdt?
anyway, heres what i propose
9.0 pokeman
9.5 robot boy
10.0 ben 10
10.5 fantastic 4
11.0 yu-gi-oh
11.5 dragon hunters/zixx
zixx nor dragon hunters shoudl be on the block, and i exopect dh to fail, because i bet most viewers have forogtten about the show, and ratigns will plunder even more, leaving zixx there
i think cn originals should not be on the sat am block, they belong on fridays
also, i think the block should be named "Saturday Morning Video Entertainment System" sound familiar dont it

CN is not going to drop Ben 10 from the Saturday line-up or Robot Boy with the ratings they were pulling in. Even if you think CN originals should be on friday, just realize it's not going to happen.

 :pYou could always get cable. You won't get CN but Canada's CN ripoffs have brought most of its worthwile programing over.

Robot Boy gets good ratings? Since when?

I do believe the last Saturday morning ratings posted had Robot Boy over a 5, and it showed it was second only to Ben 10 on CN Saturday morning.

Unless someone has seen something I haven't (quite possible) I don't foresee Fantastic 4 being a Saturday Morning debut. I would expect it to be later evening Saturday around or in Toonami. 8:00, 8:30 seems to early for Juniper Lee and though Robot Boy would fit that slot I dont' see them putting it there.
Anything outside of the 9:00-11:00am slot, are not hot/new shows. But I could be wrong. if Dragon Hunters hits the 11:30 slot again, then they aren't serious about making the show anything other than filler.

I agree on both accounts. Other than an article on Newsarama (which barely counts) the "Saturday Morning Lineup" got no advertising as an actual lineup. Ben 10 and maybe Robotboy got the lion's share of it. Also, like you said, a brand identity must be created. Look back at all the SatAM lineups of the past. They had bumpers and stuff that denoted what they were. CN's lineup had the standard CN bumpers. It's so sad, it had good potential too. Hopefully, they will give it another try.
Anyway, Sketch's lineup looks good, and it brings us to the 8 am starting point most of us remember from Saturdays when we were growing up. Something like Fantastic Four could definitely draw some attention, but it shouldn't monopolize it like Ben 10 did (view that as a warning, CN). I don't know what HTDT is, though. Anyone know?
