A Live action JL project would FAIL

Below there is a post about casting a live action JL movie, and when I saw it I remembered an idea I had for a post here.

This is an opinion and if anyone would like to react to it feel free to do so.

In my opinion, even the 1989 Batman movie had significant flaws to it. In my opinion also, each live action Batman movie to come after it had even more flaws than the one before it. The series concludes with the god-awful Batman & Robin. Because of this, I was thinking........
.......a while back it looked as if there was going to be a Batman Beyond live action movie due to its popularity on television. that project was dumped though thank goodness. Now that Justice League has shattered all previous Cartoon Network ratings, do you think it's possible that the WB will try to cash in on the series to try to make their pockets filled with dough?

I think it could be possible, and if it does happen, I think a JL live action movie would be completely impossible to make.

Here are my reasons:

1. The cost of the movie would be insane. The special effects required to show the super powers of 7 heroes would be nuts. To just show two people fighting is enough money. To show 7 heroes fighting possibly 7 villains would be crazy. Even though they pulled off X-Men, I think the Justice League transcends them in special effects. The X-Men looked okay using their powers one team member at a time to get out of situations, but from watching the JL cartoon, we clearly see that all the JLers use their powers all at the same time. Flash is racing off to save teammaters, Batman is above investigating, Wonder Woman and Superman are kicking butt, Green Lantern has a sheild around various teammates, Hawkgirl is in the air, MM is transparent and hiding or using his mind powers. And then all the villains have powers too. When you see the JL cartoon, the JLers are all over the place. I think to express JL on screen you would have to do the same thing, and so that would just be wacko.

2. The writing would suck. They cant even get Batman right, so how in the world can we expect them to get six other legendary heroes right? And lets not forget the fact that after developing each hero, their relationships together would have to be developed as well. I bet if a JL live action movie was made, it would turn out like this: Batman is still campy. He still has buttshots, he's best friends with the other members, he has no problems with any of them. He smiles all the time, cracks jokes even. He never shows his detective skills, instead he takes on the villains full force just like the rest of them. The writers would probably forget that Batman is human all together. Batman and Superman would be grabbing each other's hands and fighting the villains side by side, then doing a clever handshake after victory is acheived (ala Tucker and Chan in Rush Hour 2). If a JL movie was made, I would have no confidence in the writer (s). I would expect no development of the characters, or poor development at best.

I could probably think of other minor problems with a live action JL movie, but the writing is the one that sticks out in mind the most.

Also, keep in mind that if a JL movie was made, things like costume would change. They changed the X-Men costumes cause they said they looked ridiculous, and Sandra Bullock has said she wont do a Wonder Woman movie if the costume is not changed. So if a live action JL movie was made, I bet Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter would look totally different than they do now.

You're right, writing would be key to this. But as you've pointed out, X-Men was done successfully even with the alterations they made. Fans are forgiving of things like changes to some costumes (Superman and Wonder Woman's can't change too much, they are iconic of the character. Batman's has changed a few times over the years in the comic books.) We'll see how much the film industry starts to push writing over effects when Spiderman comes out this year, and the Hulk comes out next year.

But I don't think it would happen because with any superhero movie, you have to set up the origin of the superhero. With only Batman being done in the last 10 years and nothing for most of the rest (Okay, Superman had Lois and Clark and currently has Smallville) that would be too much background to cover in a single movie. If they ever did attempt a JL movie, I think they would do a few movies for at least Superman and Wonder Woman first.

or they can only have 5 instead of 7 characters, it'd be hard to pick, but like the X-men movie, they and we have to make sacrafices, like no Gambit or Psylocke..etc.

It can also be that there are only 2 or 3 viliians, like say Lex and Darkseid and Joker or something..who knows!!

In my opinion they shouldn't even try. Too difficult and most probably no matter how hard they tried it wouldn't be that great. just my opinion though...

I don't think there are any pics yet. But I do know where they scouted locations at... Lake Powell!!!! :D (My father helped :D :D :D :D ) Eric Bana (Dr. Bruce Banner), Jennifer Connelly (Betty Ross), Nick Nolte(Brian Banner), and Sam Elliot (General Ross) are casted as of now.

I think they would be incrediably reluctant, mostly based on their horrible attempt at a live action Superfriends that failed horribly (if anyone has ever seen any footage from it, you know what I mean.)

And although X-man was done well, I believe it was done well due to how relatively human all the characters are. It would be incrediably hard to balance not only the characters, but also working their powers, and making the whole thing believable.

But this also is all speculation. A good director and a good assortment of people could make anything work.

I think those are some cynical reasons about our favorite hero characters. :) To be honest, I would rather have a full length, feature film, animated movie if JL was to be brought to the big screen. If you take the fish out of water, it's not going to perform as well. And it would need a serious, "for everyone" tone like BB:ROTJ in order to pull in as many audience types as possible.

But nevertheless, despite how EXTREMELY difficult it would be to make a story setting that is so fit in animated land be taken out and put into that of live action, I happen to know our top writers and producers, and overall team members are not stupid, and the transition could be possible. I don't really see that which is listed as reasons why the project would fail. Heck, animated JL did awesome with Batman so far right?? :)
