View Full Version : Toon Zone Talkback - "The Wild": Mild Kingdom
This is the talkback thread for "The Wild": Mild Kingdom (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=10204).
It's like Madagascar, except by Disney.

I didn't think I'd like THE WILD from the trailers, but I did. Yes, the premise is pretty much the same as MADAGASCAR, but that film played more like a buddy picture (in my opinion), whereas this one is about a father-son relationship. So I see it as more of 'a different take on the premise' than a 'rip-off.' I think Kiefer Sutherland is GREAT as Samson and Eddie Izzard and James Belushi are hilarious. The movie's a visual knockout and the soundtrack's great, from Alan Silvestri's score to Lifehouse's "Good Enough" and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's "Big Time Boppin' (Go Man Go)."
By thy side,

Am I the only one getting tired of the whole 'talking animals have crazy hijinks while spouting pop culture reference jokes CGI movie' thing going on? I bet we'll see there in the near future:
Meet the Llamas : A family of circus llamas retire to a suburbian town to let the kids go to high school. Sadly the town, populated mostly by horses and goats, doesn't easily accept the former carni. See Junior Llamas try to make friends by showing off his cool circus tricks in an EXTREME skateboard contest while making pop culture joke. Then don't forget the daughter of the Llamas falling in love with a local stallion to the beat of Smash Mouth's version of 'I'm a Believer'. Includes thinly veiled references to racism and useless 'Lllamas spit' jokes used as racial slurr! With star voices Eddie Murphy and David Spade!
Playing Possum : A city slicker fox gets into trouble with the (russian) bear mafia! He runs out to the deep south and ends up living with a family of hick possums. See gratuitous 'city guy is useless in the backwoods' jokes, plenty of redneck cliché humors, and enjoy the romantic scenes where the fox falls in love with the eldest Possum daughter to the beat of Smash Mouth's 'I'm a believer' which leads to the final scene where our urbanite decides to stay in the country. Includes Patrick Waburton as an ostrich agent of the Witness Relocation Program (dispelling the 'ostrich head in the sand myth') and Chuck Norris as the local gator sheriff.
Monkey Buisness : A young window washer monkey ends up inheriting a large banana buisness from a relative he neverk new he had! Will he gets corrupt by his new wealth or do the right thing? Will he fall in love with his pretty assistant to the beat of Smash Mouth's 'I'm a believer' ? It's Mr. Deeds, but with MONKEYS! May contain traces of Adam Sandler.
The worse is I came up with these ideas in about 10 minutes and I can actually see these as actual movie synopsis -.-
Now that I look back it was a rather wasted ten minutes XD

Awesome as in you'd actually want to see it turn into a real movie or awesome as in I've made fun of Hollywood correctly? :p

Am I the only one getting tired of the whole 'talking animals have crazy hijinks while spouting pop culture reference jokes CGI movie' thing going on? Nope, you're not. That's part of why The Incredibles was such a breath of fresh air, and it didn't hurt that the film was awesome anyway.
Anyway, I have zero desire to see The Wild. Part of it is the visuals- the quasi-realistic look of the animals is kind of a turn-off for me; I liked the cartoony faces of the characters from Madagascar instead.

This looks no where near as good as Madagasgar, and that was only so-so to begin with.

Ya know I should also extend my complains to movie about 'things that shouldn't talk but do' instwead of just animals. I hope Pixar can match Toy Story with Cars and not fall in the same pitfalls other companies have.
Heck even Shrek can fall in my grouping what with Donkey, Puss in boots and gingerbread man -.-

In a way I hope they do, 'cause then I can ask them for royalties XD (off course they'd probably change the animals just to throw me off)... altough I really hope they don't follow my idea for 'Monkey Buisness' because I REALLY hate films with monkeys as main characters hehehehe.
