So, after CARDCAPTORS's run is over on Toonami, we all expected that SUPERMAN, or BATMAN, would return to it's fabled 5pm slot? Well...nope. TOONAMI will conisst, as of June 25th, as an hour of Tenchi Muyo and an hour of Dragon Ball Z. Man, I really miss the old Toonami where both BATMAN AND SUPERMAN aired.

Grr... I hate it when that happens. I totally agree about the Bat/Supes double play. It was almost like WB again (power hour?) Does any body know when Bats or Supes will return, if they return? I'd love to know.

Argh. And so the happy trend of showing one show over and over and over and over (ala Pokemon) spreads to Cartoon Network. I actually kinda dig Tenchi, but come on! Diversity!

I know! First they cut Toonami back an hour and now this. I'm losing faith in CN.

This gets me really mad I too miss the days when they BOTH aired on the same day one after another. I remeber when Batman first aired it was on at 6:00p and 6:30p it was'nt even on Toonami but that before Toonami went beyond 6:00 it was also on at 9:00p on sat and it was on the midnight run. But i'm sure you all knew that. They should at leat give us one one of those time slots.

i have faith in cn that they will bring back batman on toonami, maybe later this summer. but are you all getting alittle worried w/ all the talk of KidsWB and Cartoon network having joint shows and all these associations? i mean, i hope kidswb doesnt screw up cn, cause i dont think i could take it. peace.

I'm hoping, with JLA coming out, maybe Bats and Sups will get more airtime. Maybe a bunch of marathon type shows. I don't know.... wishful thinking?

That's why we're worried. CN seems to be adopting the KWB proactice of running reruns into the ground before they even get stagnant. Just look at the Toonami line-up. I am hoping that CN will bring back BATMAN...but will they?

Actually I believe that they're running Tenchi twice just to finish up the current run sooner. Sure this sucks because we're only getting two hours and that CN's just sitting on Batman and Superman.
But I must ask, if Toonami was still at it three hour length and they were running double Tenchi, would some of you be complaining?

It depends on what else they were showing. If Batman and/or SUPERMAN was in that block, I doubt I'd be complaining.

This really isn't good news, IMO. I suppose this doesn't bode well for the hope that CN would spin Toonami off into it's own network?

yeah. I've been hearing rumors about Cartoon Network making a 24 hour Japanimation channel for years. Did they give up on that? I hope they weren't planning on editing the anime for children. >>Not that I want them to air hentai. - I'm not Dr. Belch :( :p

Actually, the channel woulkd have been a 24 hour action/adventure channel, not all anime. All that would be intertwined togethor. The brass at CN are still talking about it. I'm wondering if it will come to pass.

I was wondering where you went, Joker85. What do you think of this Batman news? I bet you're also hoping we'l see the Dark Knight grace CN.

Thanks, Joker85!
Regarding the Toonami channel....somebody needs to start a petition. I would but I don't know how to and even if I knew that much, I wouldn't know who the right people would be to send it to!

Last I heard, BOOMERANG was gpnna be converted to a TOONAMI channel, but it seems like BOOMERANG might actually be sticking around for awhile. A petition? Hmmm...if it gets BATMAN back...

Darn it this is stupid, okay mabe Bat's and Supes were not anime but they belong somehwere on CN, maybe they should put them before Toonami starts. There's a good idea

Maybe if the Justice league series does good then they will bring Batman and Superman back.:)

This would be ideal:
1 hour: Batman
1/2 hour: Superman
1/2 hour: Batman Beyond
1 hour: Justice League.
How Perfect would that be?

"Toonami" should stick to Japanese cartoons, of which Batman, Superman, et. al., are not. Although obviously influenced by anime, these cartoons draw more directly from Fleischer's Superman tales of the 1940's, an American product. It's much more appropriate to have a "DC Comics" block (packaged with the new JLA) apart from the Akira wanna-bees.
P.S. Is Fleischer's "Eleventh Hour" one of the most provocative cartoons ever made or what?

You saw 11th hour, too? It is diferent than what we usually see...

Huh? What is this? Where can we see it? Tell us more, tell us more!

It's a Superman episode in which, at 11 p.m. every night, he comes out of the darkness to sabotage the Japanese war machine on their home island. He matter-of-factly wrecks some ships, destroys some buildings and seems to be daring Tojo's military to stop him.
I maybe was overstating its significance, but I just love it because it is so completely different from any other super-hero cartoon ever made. It is the real essence of what every American would do about the war if he had the power to do just about anything he wanted.
It's not racist or gory, but you'll never see it on TV since it portrays Supes as an aggressive, destructive force rather than a (more-or-less) passive "Wait until something happens" defender. You can find it on any tape set that contains all the Superman cartoons, but I've never seen it on individual tapes that pick-and-choose a few adventures.

That does sound pretty interesting, though. There for a while CN was airing those old Superman cartoons after S:TAS, but they never aired this one. I guess they don't want to be accused of reopening old wounds.
It's funny how that changed for the Vietnam war. Comicbooks seemed to act like it didn't exist while it was going on.
