Not that I don't like him or anything, but I'm just curious to why they chose Metamorhpo as a character to guest star this season. I'm suprised they didn't pick a more recognizable character like they did with Aquaman. Maybe Green Arrow or Captain Marvel. Guess the producers like him. Oh well I'm sure it'll be a great epidsode.

It probably has to do with the creators of the series being big-time Silver Age JLA comic book fans.
They've done the "No Man Escapes The Manhunters" storyline from the 70's and are producing a Earth-1/Earth-2 type story based of the classic JLA/JSA team-ups that started in the 60's.
One of the most remembered covers of the JLA comics in the late 60's features Metamorpho (at the time a brand-new character) telling all of the JLAers that he doesn't need their help and they should all buzz off. The cover blurb read something like "Metamorpho is asked to join the JLA, but learn the startling secret of why 'Metamorpho says NO!'."
Green Arrow and the Atom had already joined the League at that time, but it was the idea that Metamorpho declined membership that made his appearance so unique.
The creative team on JL aren't going to add any new members, but they might want to tell a story where someone is asked to join but decides not to. They could've done such a story with Green Arrow or Capt. Marvel, but why do that when there is a story from the comics that covered it already.
Plus Metamorpho's powers will make for some very cool animation (kinda like Clayface or Inque). By the way, if JL gets a second and/or third season, I'd bet dollars to donuts that we'll see a Superman vs. Captain Marvel story at some point.

Metamorpho would probably be the most viable of the bunch if he DID join, making a request to join all the more plausible. After all, Green Arrow is good, but a little too street-level for the JL; Captain Marvel is powerful enough, but very duplicative of Superman. The Atom is a specialist, and less useful in the field.
Metamorpho is powerful enough to be a JLer, and his powers are completely different from all current members.
