View Full Version : I know this might seem real off topic, but it has to be said.

I sit here once and a while to read what you guys are saying and I'm going to go on a whim and say some of you guys are extreamly sad.

What do I mean? I come here to hear people's views on things in a manner that I can respect, but I don't get any of that here. Instead I get moaning and groaning about how 'CN has gone down the toilet' and how 'CN is digging itself a grave' and I'm getting annoyed by it because, as I said, it's not the reason I came here or to ToonZone in general.

What it seems like to me is that you are using this space as a ranting area, and that's fine, I just wish you guys would get off your high horse once and a while and do something about it. You don't like how CN is showing Live Action movies? Well, write a message or make a petition. It goes for everything you feel is wrong with CN. People seem to find it easier to just sit there and spend time moaning about things and not doing anything about it and it annoys me cause it won't help anything.

All it does is get people annoyed like myself, especially since our CN isn't that bad. Yeah, we show Cramp Twins, but if it's still on, it means it's popular and people like it somewhat. Yeah, Boomerang/CN does get Live Action Movies, but it's not bothering me. I have exams and coursework to worry more about than what is shown on a Kids/Teens channel. If I was, Nick would be my first target, I tell you :p.

If this seems like a rant, it slightly is. If someone wants to close it, it's fine with me, I just wanted to tell people how I felt since this has been bugging me for a while.

I agree. I don't like the direction CN is going in, but for me, there's a simple solution. I don't watch it. Most of the time.

Correct. Solely whining and moaning gets nothing done, I agree -- however, it sounds like you want those that want to be critical of CN to be silent, and that part -- I disagree. I have been both critical and been supportive of what they've done. If those views bother you, then stay away from them. I tell things like they are, not sugar-coat them.

And yes, I will do something -- I will find the mailing address to my satellite provider, and tell them how unhappy I am with the direction Cartoon Network is heading. I do agree in a sense that people who are not happy with the direction the network is headed need to do something.

Water and Electricity follow the path of least resistance. It seems that most people do the same. Whatever takes the least work is what most people do. And you have to admit, typing and whining on a computer is alot easier than writing a letter and typing out thoughts on a computer.

Like I said, it was a rant, so most of that post was about anger. :p

People have a right to complain and that's fine with me since I like to hear different viewpoints. If they don't like something, they can do that or as Snailbait said, don't watch CN in general. Ranting and saying stupid things, however, makes people look like idiots and complainers. THAT is what I don't like.

I agree on that arguement. I don't really watch CN anymore execpt on some occasions when a new episode of the few remaining favorite shows I enjoy come on. Besides I'm too busy with my life.

Sure I think the movies were a soft spot to me, but many of the movies they show now pretain to a cartoon element like Dumb & Dumber, The Goonies, etc. and I can tolerate anything that has a cartoon element. CN is walking on a thin rope on the classicification of animation and cartoon element in movies and they're balanced on that rope. People just need to see the detail which shows that many of these movies have that element in them. This is where I shall end my arguement.

I respect your opinion Sponge, but I have to disagree with you about the idea of "Cartoon Element". If it is in live action, in my opinion it does not have a cartoon element in it. Those movies may have movements and actions reminiscent of the old Bob Clampett and Tex Avery Cartoons, but seeing that it is using people, I can't label those movies having "cartoon element". Also I think that idea paints animation into a corner. Animation is so much more than just zany actions (though I love Looney Tunes alot). Animation is capable of drama and suspense along with comedy.

But back to the original post though. I agree with your response that *****ing about the sad state of Cartoon Network will not change a thing. That is the reason why I decided to stop watching Cartoon Network; and this wasn't a split second reaction either, I thought about taking this course of action for months because of my dissatisfication with CN's programming and the decision to air live action was the clincher. In November when they started to air live action movies, I knew that it was leading to Cartoon Network reducing their animation lineup and putting more live action on the air, so I anticipated this moment.

But now, I'm also considering writing a letter to cable providers speaking about my displeasure of Cartoon Network's decision to air live action programming (hey I turn on ESPN to watch sports; I turn on Food Network to see stuff about Food). I love animation, and I used to love Cartoon Network five or six years ago and it was my favorite and most watched network, and that is why I'm taking a stand and trying to save the institution.

I'm paying money to get CN, its not a free to air channel like how it was a year ago. 90% of the people who used to watch it here, simply don't anymore. While I'm paying some money for it, I've already reported to my cable operator and I'm also on the verge of writing to my local CN regarding it.

At the rate at which my LOCAL CN is going, I will most probably stop subscribing and continue to support Nickelodeon and Pogo channel.

Of course I don't know how CN US, or CN UK is doing with their programming schedule but the local CN here is really terrible. I do however agree that people should not keep ranting in new topics. Create ONE topic/thread for people annoyed by CN and let all the people pour their hearts out in that thread. Ranting elsewhere should be curbed and discouraged.
