I remember watching Krypto in the summer. I really haven't heard the "outstanding" ratings it had in the summer... Is Krypto going down hill or am I just missing out on news? Discuss.

You're missing out on the news -- there was a post on the DC forum saying that Krypto will air season two on the Monday after the Spring Break deal is over at 12 PM Eastern, according to some of the TV schedules. We haven't seen a new Krypto episode since Cartoon Summer last year (except for the holiday show last December), so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

At least they aren't playing the show like they were a month after it came out. Whoa...that was a lot of Krypto!

I agree with you on that part, but CN does that a lot. There was Scooby Doo marathon, Kids Next Door, the list goes on...

They were airing Krypto on weekdays at noon time on CN.

This has probably been asked before... but why are they creating a comedic adventure for kids out of the most dramatic animated properties? I mean, aren't the pets all based on JLU characters? Just makes no sense... (okay, no less sense than putting cartoons in space, but that's saying something)

Well, How were the episodes good? I didn't see a talkback about them so I posted in this old thread again. I'm sorry. :p

Actually Krypto, Ace, Streaky and the majority of the pets have shown up in comics or the DCAU as animals at one point. During the 60's and 70's (I believe), not only was there Kypto the Super Dog, there was Streaky the Super Cat, Boppo the Super Monkey, and Comet the Superhorse. Ace accompanied Batman and Robin on adventures as well. Both Isis and Bud and Lou have previously appeared in BMTA. As far as Ignatius and Mekani-Cat to my knowledge they have not appeared previously. Long story short cartoon network didn't water down their JLU property they just took some cheesy characters from their vaults and made them into a cute children's show.

I thought it worked out fairly well for the cheezy properties they were based on. I didn't really watch the series, however. Just one episode to see what it was about. Krypto has to be popular somewhere, becuase they have toys based on the series out.

I think CN is just out to make money, that is why they made those toys!
In general who in America isn't!

I have the eps recorded, but haven't had any time to take a good look at them.

As it stands, I'm usually about a month behind everyone else.

We do need talkbacks for them. I guess we can officially create the ones for next week. Anyway...

I believe I witnessed Tuesday's episodes. The opening is a bit different, though the theme is pretty much the same.

Mechani-Bot: Loved it. This marks the first time where Mechani-Kat asked the Dog Stars for help, thanks to Mechani-Bot.

Stretch-O-Mutt to the Rescue: My favorite of the two. Buddy (who made his debut on the episode) becomes Stretch-O-Mutt, thanks to some sort of substance. He looks like a fun character to watch.

Maybe, those weren't much of spoilers, but still -- this not really being a talkback post, I'd better use them, anyway.

Is this the psuedo talkback thread then?

Lots of stuff happened this week.
Andrea found out, that's cool. Should help liven up the episodes that have Kevin in them.
I can do without Stretch-o-mutt, please tell me he's based on something from the comics and they didn't just invent him for the show.
New villian: Mertin, a rabbit with a magic wand.
Was that a new hench-kitty with Mechanicat?
Teen Titans is over, JLU is ending, but we still have Krypto in all its cheesy glory!

To add to this:

Krypto first appeared in a Superboy story in 1955, with Ace appearing several months later. Streaky first appeared in the early 1960s as a Supergirl character.

The "Space Canine Patrol Agents" (the team the Dog Stars is a renamed version of) appeared in a few Krypto stories in the mid-60's, but then vanished completely from the comics and were never seen again. Streaky stopped appearing in stories after the late 60's, and wasn't seen again as well (though non-powered ordinary cats named "Streaky" did show up in a few 80's/90's-era comics). Ace appeared in Batman stories up through 1964, when an editorial change ditched Ace from the comics, and hasn't been seen since (aside from "Batman Beyond" and a non-superhero ordinary dog version of Ace that was briefly seen in the 90's comics). Krypto himself stuck around, though appeared in very few stories in the 70's and 80's; after Byrne's Superman revamp in the mid-80's, Krypto vanished altogether until his comeback in the comics a few years ago (as a superpowered dog from Krypton). Ignatius and Mechanikat are original characters for the Krypto TV show.

I hated it,

Everyone was too stupid and The parents couldn't realize his dog as Krypto, and The only smart one is the main charater.

I had no idea that new episodes had started this last week. If they're new episodes next week (which I now see they are), I'll get a Krypto talkback posted here. I guess I've got something for my VCR to record in the afternoons now.

Those sound cool, but I'm not reading any spoilers just the titles for the epsodes. ;)
