View Full Version : MSNBot Spider--who is this?
I was looking at "Who is on line" to see was checking out toonzone at a particlular moment, and discovered this character, along with a Yahoo Spider, and a Google Spider, and two or three, "Ask Jeeves Spiders...Who are these characters,,,,? They obviously are not real...Maybe someone more familiar with them can explain these robots to me........Stuart

Search engines send out these so called web spiders to gather information from websites in order to keep the parent search engine's databases up to date. The spiders also helps them exclude pages or information that no longer exists, so that in the end a person can perform a search and get back relevant results.

They are a little disappointing. When I first started my board and saw 2 guests, I thought at least someone was looking, then I searched the IP and discovered bots. I think they generally look for key words and then link, what they do after that I have no idea. :shrug:
