well...since we're bashing bad movies on one board, I thought it would be good to balance things out here..Rave about FotR!

I'd say McKellen was the best. I was also extremely impressed with the presence Cate Blanchett brought to her role. She didn't have a lot to do, but the manner in which she carried herself as she walked down those stairs. I was blown away.

I felt that Elijah Wood did a wonderful job on Frodo. I don't think that anybody could of done better job being Frodo. Mckellen as Gandalf was very good as well.

I think that all the actors did really nice jobs. But since I'm crazy for Aragorn, even before the movie, I just had to put him^-^ It's all about the mysterious, future king guys, lol.

I voted for Ian McKellen, but I think everyone did a great job. My top 3 would be Gandalf, Frodo, & Aragorn. Amidst all the hubub of actually putting the movie to the screen, the special fx, and such, I think the acting in the movie has been really underrated.

Well, I voted for Viggo Mortensen, but I'd say he and Sean Bean were in a dead heat. I thought of giving it to Bean because I figured few people would vote him over Mortensen and I wanted to recognise him for doing an excellent job. I really noticed Bean the second time I saw the movie.

While McKellen was great as Gandalf, his performance was more showy, IMO. Every time I saw Gandalf I was aware that I was watching very good acting, but it seemed as if McKellen was PLAYING Gandalf and that ever gesture was calculated.

I've seen Mortensen, Bean and McKellen in films before. But this was the first time I took notice of Mortensen (Bean; I thought was good in Goldeneye.)

Bean was very good as this Shakesperian character. I thought he embodied the character fully, giving Boromin both sublty and passion, making him real.

I mostly voted for Mortensen because he pronounced all the weird words and names so well. Like he knew them by hear and had been saying them all his life. His performance is subtle, less theatrical than Bean and less calculated than McKellen.

On a side-note, I was pleasantly surprised by Liv Tyler and thought Blanchett was less effective.

I voted for everyone. I thought they all did a fine job and it was difficult to pick just one. :)

Yeah, I thought Mortensen did a great job. I really believed he was Aragorn.

McKellen just looked to frail for me to really believe he was Gandalf. It looked like he was gonna be broken during the duel with Saruman. That's not really because of his acting, but he didn't look quite so weak in X-Men.

Ian McKellen just stood out. After his well donw performance on the X-Men movie, he turned it up a notch here. He was just absolutely perfect for the part. He IS Gandolf. I can't imagine anyone else playing this role becuase Ian just does it perfect, maybe too perfect...

Although I voted for them all, I think Ian McKellen did a good job. I am almost done with the first book, and Ian fits Gandalf perfectly, the acting was great.

Damn near everyone did a great job, but indeed, I'll have to go with McKellen. He had and absolutely wonderful presence without ever seeming too aloof or cold... bravo!
