Could someone clear up a couple of points about the DC dvds for me?

1. In order to get all the episodes, do I have to buy the Volumes AND the "named/themed" singles?

2. Are the latter "Batman and Robin" eps considered part of the overal BTAS series, or a seperate series?

3. The "Feature Length" eps "Last Son", "Little Girl Lost", "World's Finest", "Starcrossed", etc, in the Season Volumes: are they the original "feature length" versions or are they the re-edited "parts 1, 2, etc"?

4. Some of the listings APPEAR to indicate that a Volume is only PART of a Season. So how many Seasons are there for each show, and how many Volumes does that make?

Any help appreciated...it's my eventual dream to have everything from BTAS, STAS, and JU on disc...

The Volume boxsets contain all the episodes. The themed are just cheap alternative DVDs.

2. Are the latter "Batman and Robin" eps considered part of the overal BTAS series, or a seperate series?
They're all on Volume 3 of Batman: The Animated Series.

3. The "Feature Length" eps "Last Son", "Little Girl Lost", "World's Finest", "Starcrossed", etc, in the Season Volumes: are they the original "feature length" versions or are they the re-edited "parts 1, 2, etc"?
They're all in episodic format.

4. Some of the listings APPEAR to indicate that a Volume is only PART of a Season. So how many Seasons are there for each show, and how many Volumes does that make?
Batman: The Animated Series has 4 volumes overall. Superman: The Animated Series will have 3 volumes overall. Justice League has 2 volumes overall. No clue on how many volumes Batman Beyond will have, but it's likely around 4 volumes overall. Justice League Unlimited will likely be in 3 volumes.

1.No just get the volumes, don't waste your time and money on the single discs. The volumes contain all the episodes.

2.The New Adventures of Batman and Robin is considered part of B:TAS. It got the new name since it featured Robin more prominently.

3.Well seeing that World's Finest and The Last Son were presented in the original "part 1,2,3" on the S:TAS sets I'd assume that would be the same for Starcrossed, Little Girl Lost and any othe multi parters.

4. I do not remember how many seasons B:TAS or S:TAS had. I believe that the series were released in volumes for two reasons: a.) Maintain production order of the episodes and b.) and have about even amount of episodes per volume since I remember seasons for B:TAS were rather uneven. Same goes for S:TAS. It's not until JL that the shows have a consistent number of episodes for each season.

I answered to my the best of my ability. Hopefully that helps you out. I also hope to have the entire DCAU on DVD as well.:)

Thanks for the heads up!

So, "Last Son", "World's Finest" and "Starcrossed" I'll need to track down the "feature length" versions for...were any others released that way?

I should note that, except for the lack of title breaks and some title screen changes, there is nothing different between the episodic and movie versions of these episodes.

I believe that BB's Rebirth were released as "Batman Beyond The Movie" and Justice League's Secret Origins was also released as a feature length movie on a single disc. As I said there is no need to get the single discs, the sets have all the episodes you need.:)

Really? I was under the impression that they'd been "nipped and tucked" when they were split into parts, and that a few scenes had been shortened or eliminated...but maybe I was wrong...a lot of OTHER shows do that, so maybe I just expected it or something *sheepish*...

Nah, they're just the episodes put right after one another with a fancy new title screen.

I have a different question. What DVD sets contained the animated pictures of Batman and Superman?
When my friend both her DVD sets thay had them inside the cover, mine didn't. I was just wondering is that a different DVD release? or just an added bonus. :anime:

I assume you mean the lithographs? Not all of the sets had them. BTAS Volume 3 and 4 and STAS Volume 2 had the cels, but no other sets, so far, have had any.

Since the first volume had 13 episodes, it will take 4 to cover all 52 episodes.
I'm sure they will keep all sets the same size.

I expect you are right on JL/JLU: another 26-episode set of JL to match volume 1 and 3 JLU sets of 13 episodes each (the same size as the BB sets).

Then comes the big question: will they put out a single disc of the Static Shock crossover episodes for the completists?

If they're smart, they won't until well after they release the boxsets.

Nope. Some retailers got shipments with and some without. The majority got without though, that's why it seems to be the one fewest have. Hell, I got my copy directly from Warner and it didn't even have it...

they were ALL ready 2 or 3 parters before the singal disk treatment.

Batman and Superman Movie, was aired as a 3 parter WAY before the DVD movie.

What they did was add the 3 parts as one. Not part them into 3 parts.

Mine didn't have any of them, but I'm happy we got the shows on DVD! :D
My freind had three of them she showed them to me, they aren't that special you know. Besides, the drawing of Batman looks strangely condensed!

lol! I got the same old age problem, but I remember what they look like. I think they're with....uuuuh. Look it's not my fault. I bought new furniture recently so I packed everything away. The only thing I DO know is they're in a very safe undamageable place.

If you have all of them, like me, then I THINK you should have:

Bruce and Dick -BTAS Volume 3
Superman - SupermanTAS Volume 2
TNBA Bruce - BTAS Volume 4.

I just remembered squealing when opening all of them, and loving them forever. Beyond that, I'm sure 15 minutes of looking will make me find them and remember.
