Best Fanboy/girl Tingle Moments

You know what I'm talking about. The moment when something happens on screen that is so dorky cool you can't help but grin and let out a fanboy/girl squeal. What are your top moments from the DCAU?

For B:TAS, it's got to be the opening and final shots of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. To hear the incredible Shirley Walker theme so powerfully performed, and the gothic choir giving it that haunting feel... well, that's fanboy moment #1.

As for S:TAS, it's got to be the first moment we see the Man of Steel in costume, in 'The Last Son of Krypton, Part 2'. You see the beam falling on Lois, when it suddenly stops... and her response totally encompasses it. I was actually surprised it took them that long to get to Superman appearing, so when he finally did, it made for a great moment.

In Batman Beyond, it's the moment from Out of the Past when Terry and the de-aged Bruce kick ass, with an electric guitar-ified version of the original Batman theme. Great stuff.

In Justice League? Let's see... the final battle of 'Starcrossed'. Never before had I been so psyched up by the atmopshere of an animated show. All three episodes were building to the final GL/Hro fight, and it certainly paid off. I got a real kick out of it on first viewing when I thought GL said 'kiss my ass'.

Then comes JLU, and there's quite a few there. The first reveal of the new and improved League in 'Initiation' springs to mind, but there are two that particularly stick out for me:

Flash beating up Brainthor in 'Divided We Fall'. Although there were plenty in that episode (the reveal of Brainthor and of the 'Justice Lords'), that one sticks out. When Flash turns and runs away, and then you hear him coming back, you suddenly realise what he did... damn, that was good.

And then there's Superman's 'world of cardboard' speech in 'Destroyer' and the sonic boom punch. A long time coming for many Supes fans.
But the one that takes the cake would have to be the closing moments of 'Epilogue'. No-one was expecting anything like what we got from that episode, but that ending was something one can't deny the sheer dorky fanboy/girl-ism of.

Well, that was my incredibly long winded list. How about you guys'n'gals?

The moment in Out Of The Past is a definate.

The Batmobile heading towards Joker's lair in ROTJ when the BB theme music kicks in is a pretty good way to start a finale.

The music crescendo in ROTJ with Batman on the tower looking at his city.

The moment in Doomesday Sanction when Batman makes a bolt for a Javelin is damn fine too. Few rescues you'll see when a single man stops a nuke from an orbital starting line.

Superman's comeback in "For The Man Who Has Everthing" is a great piece of drama.

Patriot Act, I love the Shining Knight's last stand. That sort of bravery in fiction and real life is so alien and awe inspiring.

In a sympathy tingle way, the end of Ace in Epilogue.

And the real kicker for me, Flash's take out of Luthor in "Divided We Fall". Good lord that has some real impact to it. Literally.

One I noticed hasn't been mentioned yet would be in "World's Finest" when Superman gets back to his apartment after tangling with Bats for the first time. He gets the call from Lois who's just GUSHING about Bruce and he looks down and spots the Bat Bug. He goes over to the window, and, sure enough, there Bats is on a roof a few blocks away looking right at him!

I don't know if this counts, but at the beginning of Flashpoint when Superman left carrying Lois off on a date I went "woot woot", expecting that it was implied he'd get some... you know action from her or something. Not that it's the only real fanguy moment of JLU (there's a lot of sutff in "Divided We Fall" and even "Grudge match") but that's the only isntance I can even remember cheering like for a TV show of any kind, so I feel it has to count as something.

Easy. The final scene of Epilogue mirroring the first scene of On Leather Wings. I swear, I was giggling. Giggling.

Terry and Bruce's run-through of Ra's stronghold in Out of the Past.
The entirety of World's Finest.
The first donning of the cowl in Mask of the Phantasm.
All Batman vs. Batman action in A Better World.
Add in the Batman vs. Batman action in His Silicon Soul, too.
Batman: The Musical. 'Nuff said.

Just seeing all those DC heroes on JLU is enough in my case. I'm such a dork about obscure superheroes. I remember starting to watch the show and going: "Oh my God. There's Booster Gold. And there's Mr. Terrific. And Vigilante, Shining Knight, Blue Devil and Vixen and . . . " It went on for a while. It also helps that the majority of them are being written as pretty kickass.

Another big one has to be that moment in "In Brightest Day . . ." when Kyle Rayner puts on the ring in the bathroom and the costume materializes on him. I remember thinking "That is so awesome".

When Shayera shows up at the end of The Return. I think I was practically jumping for joy.

I haven't had any huge fanboy moments on JLU because I've really been against them for the most part. But in "Destroyer" I got two big ones...the first, well, you'll know when you see it...and the second being the very last line of the show :)

I'm sorry, but I got a huge kick out of seeing Jor-El's design in "For the Man Who Has Everything" because he looked like season 1 Superman.

Also, the fight between Justice Lord's Superman and Doomsday in "A Better World" looked EXACTLY like the fight from "The Death Of Superman" comic. Everything was perfect, from the shattering windows to Lois and Jimmy in a helicopter.

Um, ok. I guess it's been a while since I saw "A Better World."

There was still a helicopter in the scene (regardless of who was in it) so it was still an excelent homage.

Another great moment is in "Far From Home" when Green Lantern is holding the unconcious Supergirl in a scene that resembled "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

When we see Nightwing's silhouette on the bridge in "Grudge Match".

The entire episode of Epilogue.

Batman's 1st appearance in Metropolis in "Worlds Finest" when goes into the club to get some info. And then when Clark finds the homing device Bats planted on his cape and looks out the window to see Batman followed him to his apartment. I remember thinking how those scenes confirmed how badass Batman truly was.

The very first time I watched "On leather wings" back in 1992 when Batman breaks into the chemical labs place, and does some detective work of his own. Then has to escape the police. I remember thinking how great this cartoon was going to be and that I've finally seen the Batman I wanted to see.
In the same episode i got fanboy chills when Batman was straddling Man-Bat in flight and donkey punching him from behind.

To this day "FREEZE"..."That's Mr. Freeze to you" has stuck with me from "Heart of Ice". Also Batman's final line in that episode, "Goodnight, HUMANITARIAN!" left me with chills... how awesome was that!

Finally, in ending shot of the Gray Ghost seeing the giant People magazine cover had me raving. For some reason I thought that was the coolest thing.

And recently in Grudge match seeing the gargoyles past by and thinking that one of them is going to be a hero and then seeing the mullet.

On "Legacy" pt. 2 when Superman and Darkseid start fighting, and Superman punches him and says "Thats for Dan Turpin!" and Darkseid goes "Who?"
then Superman says "The good man you murdered!" and finally Darkseid says "Had i known one humans death would pain you so, i would have killed more,"
i love that line last line by Darkseid it rocked!

Cool topic. Anyway here's some of faves.

Superman and Captain Marvel charging towards each other in "Clash" The music revving up and the fact that you know it would be a kickass battle was awesome.

Bruce donning the Batman suit in MOTP for the first time. The music was incredible.

GL reciting the Green Lantern oath = COOL!

In "Disappearing Inque" where Inque has Bruce trapped, you'd think that would be the end but then the suit comes on and the awesome Batman theme comes up. Man it was great to see Bruce kick ass again!

Dick showing up again in "Sins of the Father"

Huntress vs. Black Canary in "Double Date"

Nightwing's cameo in "Grudge Match"

Green Arrow's lines when Speedy and Crimson Avenger show up in "Patriot Act" - You want Superman! Now you got the Crimson Avenger and my ex sidekick. Ex partner! = :)

And so many more, but I can't of any more at the moment.

-Definitely the first time Bruce puts on the mask in MOTP, as many people have mentioned. The music and Alfred's reaction just really hammers home that Bruce has become something more than a man at that moment.

-"Turning humanity into APES? THAT was your master plan???" BLAM! Luthor says and does exactly what we were all thinking.

-The Batman chases the kryptonite missile sequence from "Doomsday Sanction". The fact that for a brief instant I actually thought Batman was going to die (as ludicrous as the notion was) testifies to the adrenaline rush and excitement of that scene.

-"Happy Birthday, Kryptonian. I give you oblivion"

"BURN."

I might have squealed in delight when I first heard that.

-The aforementioned Bruce VS Inque scene, with the classic Batman theme playing. I had been waiting all season for something like that!

GL's facial expression then exactly echoes my own.

I don't know if this means I have a somewhat sadistical side to me, but any scene where Batman is in a battle and gets the crap beat out of him makes my heart jump and stomache flutter.

One scene that comes to mind is in Wild Card where the Joker kicks him, I think it's 8 times, and the last kick you hear something break, prolly a rib or 4. That was awesome.

And as mentioned before, In the Batman Beyond Inque episode. I was always so sad that Bruce was never gonna don the cape again and then he does it in that way too cool exosuit with the old theme. There's no one like Bruce Wayne.

I watch JL to see Batman in action. But I also enjoy the rest of the team. Great show.

So many to choose from, I don't know where to start. How about:

In Batman Beyond, Meltdown,when Mr. Freeze says something like, "Remember, there might be some momentary discomfort."

Justice League. The grocery store hold-up in Initiation. The opening White House scene from A Better World. Wonder Woman stopping the ICBM in The Brave and the Bold. The final confrontations between Bruce and Clark in Twilight and The Doomsday Sanction. Also, that point in The Doomsday Sanction when our Superman tries to lobotomize Doomsday out of desparation. The Question telling Luthor he's there to kill him to save the world in Question Authority. Captain Marvel unleashing the lightning on Superman in Clash. Vigilante detonating his motorcycle in Patriot Act. Any of the fights from Double Date or Grudge Match with Canary and/or Huntress. Wow, there really are too many times when my adrenalin practically kicks in watching this show.

Static Shock, Hard as Nails, the whole scene with Alfred, Virgil, and Bruce in the Batcave.

The Zeta Project, the scene when Zeta tells how he came to realize he was not a killer. Sorry, I forget the name of the episode. Can I complain about the lack of DVD's now? :sad:

The Batman has some animaton sequences that really amaze me. There is one from The Man Who Would Be Bat where Batman runs along a ledge then jumps down - the original (best) opening and Toonami also used part of this in the adverts. I also like how pissed off he looks at the end of this sequence. In the same episode, I like the scene where Manbat kills a sheep, not so much for the animation but the brutality of it. There is another sequence where they show Batman sitting on a ledge and the camera pans around him but I don't remember which episode it's from, just that it's season one. I also really am amazed by most of the fights in The Batman vs. Dracula. Probably my two favorites are his first fight with Drac and the big battle near the end against all of the "lost ones". Dracula's voice, too, has this amazing combination of soothing and evil to it that still astounds me.

The most recent one for me was when nightwing cameod in grudge match.

But possibly the one i got most excited about was in the cadmus arc when they showed dr. milo, dr. strange, and referenced langstrom.

I couldn't believe they were tying stuff in all the way back from BTAS, it was a really cool moment.

I love the scene in Dissapearing Inque when Bruce unveils his big ass Batman armour and goes to town on Inque, with the Batman theme done with the choir in an almost haunting tone. Brilliant.
