Just when you thought anime fans couldn't get any more mentaly deranged they come up with this gem. Otakukins are basically a bunch of fans who think they have some sort spiritual connection with non living made up anime or video game characters. Sounds a bit crazy if you ask me. These characters aren't even real so how can they have a spirit or a soul. Man sometimes I wonder if I should just stop being an anime fan. People get a grip. These characters are NOT real they have no soul or body so how can you connect with them on a spiritual level. Wow there are some really sad people out there.

Explains where the idea may have come from.

Wow. That's even crazier than those scientologists or those guys who made a religion out of Star Wars.

They did an episode of Futurama about that. Everyone died.

But wait.... remember the episode of Spider Man after the Madam Web multi-dimensional crossover where Spider Man met Stan Lee and thanked him for making his character known in alternate realities?
Or the Justice League episode Legends with the "Justice Society" and that the JLU Universe knew of the JSA universe through the mind of a comic book writer.
AHHHHH. it's fictional multi-verse physics coming back to haunt us in the form of OtaKults

Given that the otakukin are reincarnations, the anime girl you fantasise about is rotting in her grave as we speak

That anime-eyed fish is funny XD
Is it me or that Wikipedia article is completly derogative and has no place in an ENCYCLOPEDIA?
Plus is that even serious? The 'otherkin' thing okay but I don't think the 'Otakukin' thing is more than a Convention farce.

Person who really thinks they are an anime character. Very scary indeed.

To quote Triumph on the LOTR guy in the Star Wars Episode 2 line: "Uh, it's called REALITY, fella!"

I am the reincarnation of Himura Kenshin!!!...
Which is actually possible because Kenshin was actual a real person named Kawakami Gensai.

Being a huge fan of animation and japanese anime, I'll never call myself an otaku. Sure I have watched a lot and even dressed up a couple of times, but I'm not that deep into anime. Nor would I even act as sick and perverted to do what an otakukin would come up with. What a majority of the anime community seems to lack is the knowledge of the culture where this comes from. That is something I'd rather learn more about than cosplay as a shinigami and not understand what the history of and what the shihakushō is made up of. That and believe I was Kenshin in another lifetime.

Here's to counting each and everyone of my lucky stars that I have yet to encounter this breed of headcase in person.
And the nonsense that some of these fellows spurt out really doesn't do much to help their case.

Yep, everytime you think that anime fans can't get any worse... you stumble upon a gem like this one.
As Rich Epcar once said, anime fans are the genre's greatest strength, and embarassment, all at the same time :D
