Toonami and Digital Swimsuits, they'll never part.

I'm watching Tenchi now, and those swimsuits get on my nerves every time I see them. I can understand why the digital swimsuits are put there. But what does it do? They're frelling skin tight! Ryoko and Aeka might as well be naked, no difference. To make it worse, in one scene both have their swimsuits on. But in a matter of seconds the swimsuits are off and the're washing themselves. Do the swimsuits have to be that bad? :mad: They could make it a little less obvious that they put the swimsuits there. Toonami and digital swimsuits, they shall never part. :p

:p A couple of people that I know from the AIC boards said that the digital suits ruined the whole "Tenchi Experience." I have to admit though, Tenchi does have a couple of ermmm........ adult situations and jokes.

Let's try this everytime you see the Hot Spring in Muyo or the Girls "Bathroom" in Universe Ryoko is always naked that's why she has a swimsuit on and the other girls have towels on but then when Mihoshi and/or Kiyone show up they have towels but they have bikini straps on.

[indent]We wouldn't even see some of these shows if it wasn't for digital swimsuit technology. You generally won't see nudity on any nonpay TV channel that isn't rated TV-MA. Also, Tenchi was their first attempt at digital swimsuit technology, it is likely to improve as they get more experience with it.

Anime doesn't show genetilia, neither does western. That doesn't mean there won't be plenty of naked jokes to go around.

I don't get why they didn't air the Hot Springs episode of Outlaw Star. All the had to do was fix some suggestive lines and put digital bathing suits on Suzuka and Aisha. They could've aired it easy.

[indent]I think part of the problem was the "sub-plot" was pretty much the plot of the episode. It's hard to cover up stuff and rework things when the entire point of the episode is suggestiveness and fanservice.

I'm guessing it was the dirty movie part more than the 'nudity'. I'm guessing the alternate script writer's head exploded trying to find a way to clean it up. Even if it was the same brain-trust that thought of using "tea" in Tenchi...

The Tenchi editing is incredibly tongue-in-cheek. Of course the swimsuits are going to magically disappear whenever they can. It's a signal to the viewer that executives just told them to get rid of the nudity anyway. And "tea" is the second-funniest edit ever (my favorite, of course, being the OS blood edit on Jim's hand). It's so incredibly obvious that this "tea" is alcoholic that it doesn't even matter. It makes the episode funnier if you ask me.

I was wondering about that, too. My guess is that she either chose to have the kid form, rather than the adult, or the animators just didn't want to have to draw another full-grown woman on the show.
