This refers to the two groups of three animated series premiere in almost each same time period featuring the same theme of the Space Western.
The two groups in this category are:
- The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, and Bravestarr (1980s)
- Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star (1998)
Which of the two groups is your favorite and comments on why.

I've only seen Trigun and Sabre Riders.
But Sabre Riders deserves some credit for having a GIANT ROBOT IN A FRIKKIN' COWBOY HAT.

I'm going with the Bebop/Outlaw Star/Trigun trilogy. Not only are they good/great animes (that my semi-anime hating friend actually enjoys/would watch) that I have at least seen parts of, but they also made a good AMV when combined together. Also I haven't really seen Saber Riders and the others either which probably influences a good part of my decision.

Monkey, you left out the best selling point of the show: the giant robot in the cowboy hat HAD A JOHN WAYNE VOICE ("Head 'em up, move 'em out!")
Seriously, though, I never really saw Outlaw Star as a space western. I saw it more as an homage to old-school pulp space opera (the images in the closing credits, which all look like pulp magazine covers, confirms this for me). I'm a fan of that era of pop-lit, and to me, Outlaw Star had the style and pacing of '40's and '50's A. Bertram Chandler, Mack Reynolds, and Cordwainer Smith.

I liked some aspects of "Outlaw Star", though in balance it was far from my favorite. I've never watched "Cowboy Bebop", and I'd have to say "Trigun" was my favorite of the three, because of the strength of the storyline and the characters.
I think an argument could be made that the "Galaxy Rangers" was the finest of all of the classic 1980s syndicated shows, I wish someone would revive it. "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs" were not quite as good as its stablemate "Voltron", but it was a pretty decent show. I'm afraid I only caught an episode here and there of "Bravestarr", it came along when Filmation was pretty much on its last legs. If I had to choose between the two trios, it would be the 1980s one.
(What is it about the space opera and Western generes that lead people to constantly try to mix them? I dunno, maybe it's because they share the theme of man trying to tame the wild frontier.)
