This was spawned from a debate a friend and I were, and still are, having: LOTR or SW: which is the better tale? But we really know we're just rooting for our faves. So, which is your favorite saga: Lord of the Rings (even tho there's only the one movie right now) or Star Wars?....

ok, I put "Can't make up my mind" but in reality, I have.

It's Babylon 5

I'm sorry, but that show is betterer than both of em, and that's my final answer!

WWTBAM is a saga?

Anyway....Star Wars, definently! Really, I only saw Episode 4, but {shrugs}.

I think so Danielle, but when did we bring Regis into the equation?

oh, I did..when I said it was my "final answer"

*sigh*

Well, it's all your fault, then. :p

BTW, how many parts are in the LOTR saga?

3, 4 if you count the Hobbit (which was a pre-qual)

Are we going by movies, or books? If you say movies, I can't say until all the LOTR movies are released. If you mean books, I like LOTR's better then Star Wars.

Star Wars. I know what it's actually about. :D

Still, if I can see/read LOTS I'm pretty sure I'd be divided. I'm easy to please, and I always enjoy a good adventure. :)

As far as movies goes, SW has the lead. I'll wait until LotR is over before I make a judgment.

Out of the options, I guess..Star Wars...probably. Otherwise, Evil Dead & Back to the Future are much better imho

If we're considering tv shows too, then I might say DS9 which was brilliant.

Comparing Star Wars and LOTR (at least the movies) might be too soon since we've only seen one from LOTR and 4 from SW. Based on what I've seen in FOTR, I'm leaning toward LOTR. But then I just love the jedi/sith aspect of SW and the potential there for episodes II and III. Both are good vs evil epics, but LOTR features better writing, so maybe that should be my pick.

Actually, yes, thanks to the below par SW:TPM, I think Back To The Future gets my vote......

yeah Star Wars LOOKS like a good saga. But if we're talking films though, both Star Wars and LOTR are difficult to debate since neither has finished!!! Back To The Future has... unless you believe the disturbing rumours...

Star Wars is a better movie..

LOTR is a better book.

So, I voted for Star Wars..cuz of the geeky-ness in me...

BTW-Just for the Trekkers out there, is Star Trek considered a "saga"..?

NO...Star Trek is NOT a saga...it's a collection of stories, not one BIG story.

Star Trek overall might not have had one big story, but DS9 certainly did.
