VBulletin account deletion?

Let's say that after a while and some very uncomfortable posts by inconsiderate people, you find that registering for TZ was a mistake and you want it so you never existed in the first place? Is there a way to delete your screen name and information from the database?

I ask because I registered with another forum whose infrastructure is similar to TZ, and the mods over there said it could not be done. I think they're big liars over there though, but I was very upset with them, and I really really want to delete my info there.

Well, you certainly know how to write eye-catching and misleading thread titles. Yes, of course it's possible to completely delete user accounts from the database (it happens by default if you don't post for six months or more). Though at this other forum you're at the mercy of the admins, and either they're stupid and don't know their own software or they just don't want to delete you. TZ doesn't delete accounts by request either.

vbulettin I'm not really familiar with, most boards have a single buttun to delete a members account. If you want to delete your existence from most boards, you have to go to each post and delete each and every one if the system allows you to do that. I've seen people asking how they can stop people from doing just that when a member went and deleted every post they made and disrupted threads. Admins can do almost anything, sometimes they just don't want to.

On a technical level we can. We're not in the habit of doing so, though. We expect that someone who truly wishes to no longer be a part of the TZ community will have the discipline to simply not show up again.

I've seen a number of people want to deactivate a membership and never understood why. I left boards but never really want the SN deleted if for no other reason but to keep someone else from using it. I usually even leave my PM notices on unless, as one board, I keep getting spammed to read fanfics. I like leaving trails but I've yet to run into any real nuts. I once needed to contact someone at a board that I couldn't get into but only new his SN. I found it at another board but because the pM were deactivated, he never got it
