I don't think you'll find anyone on the planet who doesn't think B&R sucked.A big part of it was the acting.

Holeeeee Cow!
Talk about a veritable pooo fest! It's like deciding between an execution or to spontaneously conbust! This is a tough question...but I really have to be fair here...since they all sucked..I won't give anyone the honor of my vote!

They were all pretty bad. From best (bad) to worst (horrid), I'd say Clooney, Silverstone, O'Donnel, Ah-nold, Bane, and Uma tops 'em all. She just tried too hard, the delivery seemed so darn forced, and I can't really stand her anyway.... how's that?

I voted for Schwarzenegger, but I must say the real fault lies with the screenwriter.
He just had to *say* those cheesey puns, he didn't write them. :)

Ahh, c'mon now, good ol' late Jeep was the worst. BBBAAAANNNNEEEEE!!! GGGOOOODDDDD!!!!! Makes Arnold look like Brando.
I actually remember going to a Warner Bros store and the clerk telling me that they absolutely loved the film. They also had some local reaction on the news and there were quite a few people that thought it was "wonderful".

I recall vividly being trapped in the movie theater with a friend who wasn't a Batman fan. I have never been so desperate to walk out of a movie in all my life- but she was my ride, and so I was trapped....trapped in the dark with Schumacher and his minions (sob)
MAKE IT STOP!!!!No more cold puns, I can't take it I CAN'T-
(pant,pant )
sorry, had a flashback.

Alicia was okay in the role, but that's it. I find most of her acting to be bland and cold anyways - so she fit in here pretty well. The worst has to go to the mono-syllobic (sp) Bane. They totally butchered a good character into a complete moron with the IQ of a chia pet.

Yes, but that wasn't the actor's fault...
I'm the clooney vote..he was too damn happy. I blame the script more than the actors...the actors did what they were told

I voted Alicia Silverstone. She just sucked. Well, they all did really! Why wasn't there an all of the above choice??

Not to be different or anything (I voted IMMEDIATELY after I read the title, then looked at the posts), but what are you people thinking? There is not one bad actor on that list, except for Alicia Silverstone. I'm exempting the late Jeep Swenson because the man was a wrestler and for the part they gave him, he acted beautifully. Clooney, O'Donnell, Schwarzenegger, and Thurman (all performers who have proven themselves in previous projects) were forced to deliver some tragic lines, but they did so in the best way without compromising what the director wanted. The same cast under a different script would turn out sweet performances. Alicia Silverstone, on the other hand, sucks. She's totally not believeable for the part of Batgirl. Not even in a completely asinine movie such as this.

Schwarzenegger. No contest. He flat out BLEW. That movie ruined his career. But that script...NO ONE could have made that godawful script work. Schumacher cut about half the stupid crap out...but look what we were left with...

Definitely Alicia Silverstone.
I just couldn't stand her so-called "acting" Everytime she was supposed to sound happy, sad, saracastic, anytype of human emotion, she talked so plain and boring. Not exactly monotone, but just...you can hear her barely acting. UGH words can't describe my hate of her, let alone the entire movie

nobody was a bad actor. It was the script. They're all very talented actors, and Cloony has improved alot since his romp as Wayne. I wouldn't mind seeing him fill the shoes again...no nipples and no Schumacher of course.. :)

George Clooney gets my respect for self-depreciatingly taking the blame for that crap-fest. But it wasn't his fault at all. It was Schumacher's fault! And that stupid writer!

Akiva Goldsman. Hard to believe he also wrote A Beautiful Mind.

I also blame Akiva Goldsman above all. Have you guys read that script? If you haven't, I recomend you do, because if you are that brave, it's good for a laugh.
You can say Clooney was too happy as Batman, but I think that situation was worse with Freeze. "Let's kick some ice!" Ah dear god... I suppose no actor could save a great villain of tradgedy with lines like that, but even some of his 'dramatic lines' came of corny, so I voted for him.

I hated Clooney. Ruined it. Nothing there. To be honest it's been years since I've seen it...
However I liked Freeze. For what ever reason, Arnie made me laugh and he gets one up on Clooney just for that...!

I know that the writing played a big part, but I voted Alicia for how she killed Barbara's character. She totally made the bimbo approach complete. I'm blond, a drop out from college and all I have going for me are my looks and boobs. Augh!

I voted for Arnold because that accent just got in the way of the Freeze character.

I thought Clooney was bad in the role, but I do agree, I can't think of an actor who could have delivered those lines and not sounded retarded.
I don't really like Alicia Silverstone's acting in anything she's done that I've seen, but seen against some of the other junk in this film, she didn't come off so bad. I mean, she was only as bad as she allways is. But George Clooney is a good actor, and I like Arnold as well, which is what made their parts seem so much worse.
I mean, they've both been in movies, what were they thinking during filming?! I'd have thought after the first few weeks of shooting they would have noticed-Hey, wait, this movie is turning into a steaming pile of crap in Bat-Skates, maybe I should take a sudden vacation to Thailand-

I have to agree, the worst sinner was the screenwriter. Mr. Freeze is dead to emotion, yet he loves to spew out cheesy one-liners. Riiiiiiight. And Bane... sigh. He could have carried a movie as the sole villian, but they turned him into a bad Boris Karloff characature.
As for the worst actor.... hm. I waffle between Arnold and Uma.

I think everything about the movie was bad; the acting, the music the plot etc. I liked the darker Batman of the first 2 movies. I liked the dark music of the first 2 movies. The plot of the first 2 movies was good, but could have been better. I hope they don't ruin the next movie. It'll be hard to ruin the music since Elfman will be doing it again.
Unlike most, I'm not a huge fan of Frank Miller. I don't like the way he portrays Batman and especially Superman, as a government lackie. What do you think?
Cassandra
01-09-2002, 08:42 PM
And why the heck did they have to put three villians in it? Half the movie goes to just setting them up.
The New Batman
01-09-2002, 09:44 PM
I don't know. After Batman Returns, they felt for some reason that they can't only have one villian, they have at least 2. They totally ruined Bane.
The Game

That's been the problem with the Batman movies after the original, the fact that they tried to give us 2+ villains.
I think that each Batman villain (to a certain point) has a very good, deep character and they are all capable of supporting a film on their own. Bane was basically Ivy's cheafur. I mean, what the hell is that?
Cassandra

Yeah, really. In the comics he almost killed batman, he snapped him like a twig, and now he's Mr. Poison Ivy? Talk about how the mighty have fallen...
