Does anyone else remember this cartoon?

I thought it was pretty good and it would be nice if Boomerang would show it and it would be even nicer if someone would release the series on DVD.

Here is a link with info and pictures of the cartoon for those who may have never heard of it.

To me, this was sort of a Richie Rich clone. Both had all sort of fancy gadgets at their disposal, had various hangouts in all parts of the world, as well as their souped up vehicles ready to go whereever they needed to be. Jack, like Gloria was Goldie's sidekick and Nugget was her loyal dog, like Dollar was to Richie. Though they both originally aired in the early 80's, Goldie Gold looks more dated, particularly with the overuse of the gold and brown color schemes that dominated this series.

Aargh! For the sake of mental sanity I wanted to forget this series...

Well it's no worse than any of the new cartoons of today or all these Anime cartoons that everyone is in love with nowadays.

To Startounz:

I will admit it's similar to Richie Rich, but I think Goldie Gold was more action based and had better stories, but I liked Richie Rich too.

I've always liked Goldie Gold and Action Jack. Maybe it's the adventure aspect of it, the good character designs( a cut above it's contemporaries like HannaBarbera) or it could be that it was actually a fun little cartoon.

I really liked this show. I especially liked the way Jack was always twisted around Goldie's finger. He always got sucked into her schemes & their adventures began. It was kind of like a pre-moonlighting relationship with less fighting.

Goldie Gold & Action Jack lasted one season on ABC (1981-2). Co-created by Jack Kirby & Steve Gerber, this was meant to be derived, I believe, from Modesty Blaise. Aired after Ruby-Spears stablemate Thundarr the Barbarian, and lost some of Thundarr's audience. Both series were cancelled at the end of the season. Good show, good creative pedigree, but not enough interest.

It was also part of the Plastic Man hour along with Mighty Man, Rickety Rocket, Heathcliff, Dingbat, Fangface, etc. I remember not too along GG was airing on Boomerang in the wee smalls.

BZZZZZZZTTTTTT!!!!!! Wrong!

The Plastic Man Super Comedy Adventure Show was a 90-minute anthology series that preceded Goldie Gold by 2 years. The content was Plas, Rickety Rocket, Mighty Man & Yukk, & Fangface reruns. Heathcliff debuted the following year, with Plas cut to 30 minutes, and the other segments cancelled.

Indeed I do. They used to air this quite regularly on cartoon network, right after Richie Rich Show... I never bothered watching more than a few episodes, because well I didn't like it one bit.

The show was quite a flop, only about 15 episodes or so.

I loved that ABC series & remember it well!

Of all the gadgets they had, my favorite's the jet motorcycle-sidecar!

Back in 1992, the Texas Lottery had a game show where a contestant could win $1,000,000! I attended the Houston show & to my surprise, I met the host, Sonny (Action Jack Travis) Melendrez. I talked to him about his old days of being on that show as well as his Disney Channel series, You & Me Kid. Also, I told him that if I ever win big on the Texas Lottery, I would buy a jet motorcycle-sidecar (ala GG&AJ) which he replied, "Cool."
