Who is Deadman?

I remember someone mentioning him in another post and would like to know who he is.

Originally a circus acrobat, Boston Brand wore a red and white costume during his trapeze act. One day, he was shot and killed. The god-like being named Rama Kushna allowed him to walk the Earth as a ghost, invisible and intangible but with the power to possess others, in order to find his murderer.

Over the course of several adventures, he found many false leads, and only learned who his murderer was during a teamup with Batman. He learned that the guy who killed him was a member of the League of Assassins whose initiation test had been to kill someone. Thus, Brand learned that his death had not been caused by someone with any real motivation to kill him specifically, which was especially frustrating to him.

Later, he just kept doing superhero-y stuff, occasionally trying to find a reason to keep going.
