For the British, and oh so curious, Series 2 of Doctor Who, starring David Tennant, will air Saturday 15th as confirmed by www.gallifreyone.com. It will air at 7pm and will have - as usual - an episode of Doctor Who confidential following it (presumably on BBC three).
Doctor Who Confidential will be narrated by Doctor Who writer (The Unquiet Undead), Doctor Who novelist (St Anthony's Fire, Nightshade) and infamous writer/actor of "The League Of Gentlemen" will narrate instead of the great Simon Pegg.
Good news, eh?

So am I. With what sounds like a good writing crew, the same production team and a Doctor I THINK I will prefer over Mr Eccleston, I'm rather hyped. The only downside is the lack of Captain Jack. Given the choice, I'd have far rather he'd stayed and Rose has been torched.... - would anyone else agree...? ;)

Yeah but Capt. Jack is more apt to handle the torch XD
I hope CBC picks it up soon or at least rerun season 1 AND the Christmas Invasion special.

Well, if Rose had bitten the dust, we'd have the adventures of the Angsty Doctor and Captain Jack: Unleashed, which I don't think the Doctor would appreciate :p . Also, splitting off Jack to his own series means double the toys, double the time-travelling fun.
To be honest, Jack's got a strong cult following -- a cult within a cult means uber devout fans and worshippers. They may have cut him loose so that he doesn't become what Doctor Who is about, so we avoid the old Who fan/new Who fan war due to "The Adventures of Captain Jack (and oh, by the way, that British guy who rides around in police boxes and dresses funny)."
Who's more feasible anyway? Or rather, who would you not stab your eyes out over? A Rose series or a Jack series? If anything, Jack fans should be thrilled he's getting his own show; he's guaranteed the most camera time since he's the character we know, and he would be the best one to "shadow" for the first year of the series, depending on how it goes. Not only do you have the immediate future, you have a black hole of two years to fill in.
As for Rose, Billie Piper did some good work; she grew with the character. If they write the next series as nonstop "OMG angst" for her, then I'll bid her a happy farewell when her contract is next up. Until then, let her follow the Doctor around as his companion and let Jack strike out on his own.
PS. I hate all of you Brits.

Jack's great but the heir apparents to Mary Whitehouse would be all over the show if he was made a permanent companion. Thats why we have Torchwood.
Speaking of which was that rumor about Charlotte Church playing a she-devil debunked yet?

Huzzah! I shall be home when the series premieres!
And Mary Whitehouse has heirs apparent? I thought they'd given up and moved to the American Deep South and comfy jobs to retire on in the Daily Mail. At least, if the last time I turned on the telly was any indication...*shudder*

I'm with you. Rumor is that series two is a go for summer or fall of 2006:

Let's hope CBC reruns series one and The Christmas Invasion before then. It would make a nice summer treat then they could show series two in the fall. It would make a lot of sense for them to at least show Invasion again, given the content's relevance to series two in general.
Oh, and thank the (time) Lord, when I got home I was happy to find that I had not yet deleted Invasion from the CBC airing. I do wish I could back and undelete the other CBC episodes but even TiVo is not above user error. I am such an idiot for deleting them! :gir:

I wish I had keep my recording of Invasion >< it was so awesome! Altough the spinning christmas tree of doom was REALLY out of nowhere. When I saw the ads I tought it was the return of the Autons XD
BBC Wales aired a short bit on the next series today.

Don't want to go into spoilers but has there been any indication the Cybermen will be the overall season villain?

This is just a general reminder for everyone: there are people that don't want ANY spoilers whatsoever. Yes, they may know through news and press releases who is guest starring, but as to how these characters relate to a plot line, they prefer it to be ambiguous.
That said, until the ep airs and we have talk backs, any answers relating to this season's story plots and season arcs must be kept under spoilers.
I know it's exciting, and frankly, I'll be "spoiling" myself rotten. However, let's be considerate of those who a) are in the UK and don't want to be spoiled before it airs; b) those in Canada and Australia who have to wait a bit before they see it; and c) all the Americans without Brit connections who haven't even seen Season 1!
EDIT: I'm going to add a spoiler warning for season 1 up in the title so the uninitiated won't have a stroke.

For some reason "The Satan Pit" sounds familiar, but I can't place why.
I hope the Cybermen turn out well, perhaps closer to their earlier incarnations in spirit with those inhuman voices and menacing stoïcism, and not liable to fall down if you nick them with a aureus. I do like the new design, so I'm hopeful that they'll carry through on the promise I see in it.
In any case, I'm glad to see series too plugging along. I can only hope that we get it here in the colonies in due time. A wait until next spring just ahead of series three airing wouldn't be unexpected and not wholly dissapointing as an even pace might work out nicely after all.

So this year it's more of an ongoing online game rather than Mickey's rantings about whatever happened in each ep?

I found a bug- if you're moving to a new section of the map and hit a guard it's possible to get jammed in the wall. Found this out when I was 3 items away from completion
