Yeah the movies also screwed up Spider-Man: The New Animated Series!

THats why we never saw Green Gob,Doc Ock or any other cool hero. Though it is suppsoedlt in continuity.

But it did not seem that way

It becomes more and more clear when you watch it that the show at least tried to be "big and broad", but carried some convulted garbage when trying this, "Synoptic" Venom and Carnage acting as a cohesive unit, and Goblins wearing boxer shorts were just shocks and surprises for the sake of it. From the issues of the Unlimited comic I have read though, with cameos from Gwen Stacy and The Chamelion, they were enjoyable and would have made for a good second seasons' worth of tales.

I actually find it hard to believe that the comics based on Unlimited was better than the show itself. Normally show related comics are supposed to be less entertaining than the show but it seems that Unlimited's comics are more enjoyable than the show.

Could be due to the comics not being affected by the char rights being tied up.

The Chamelion looked like a traditional real life Chamelion, but they kept the use of belt buckle transformation that TAS Chamelion used, slightly bigger in size and looking more primative.

Best issues were four and five, four because of the Gwen cameo, the last issue had Chamelion and Wolverine, and continued on from the previous story (Wolvie escaped from "Haven", Gwens' village), and it hinted that Wolverine was the missing husbund of the woman Peter was living with

The show's problems can't all be chalked up to the creators fault - they had the pressure of everyone wanting a show as big as Spider-Man: The Animated Series yet faced constant hurdles throughout thier rush production and were forced making unpopular desicions.

Still, this doesn't excuse the fact that the premises is terrible, the stories mostly sucked and the characters couldn't hold interest for 22 minutes. I would often take breaks when screengrabbing the episodes for the site, simply because I was that bored with that I was seeing.

The show really is better left forgotten.

And spiderman could have fought other marvel villains outsdie his rouge. Doom always make for a good villain. And i`m sure V&C were not the only rouges not pick up by sony either.

I thought it was pretty clear they were under heavy pressure to make this show completely different then what came before but they also had to deal with making new characters for new toys and all that stuff. The premise wasn't that great but I have a feeling that it was something they were forced into. They couldn't keep it on Earth so they tried to do something fantastic and maybe epic with the character and they basically fell flat on their face with it.

I was over at Marvel's website checking out character bios when I ran in to Spidey's information. Wow, things sure have changed since I was reading comics! His new long underwear immediately made me think of Spider-man Unlimited.

I wish they would at least re-run Unlimited again on Jetix. I have never seen the first episode with the new Green Goblin. I did like the character with the bandages, too. I just wish Venom and Carnage had not been in the show. I never liked either villain at all.

The cliffhanger was never explained. I did try and contact people who worked on the show for my Spider-Man Unlimited site, but I never heard back from them, unfortunatly. It has been revealed that Spider-Man would return to Earth in season two, because no one ever really liked the idea of him being on an alternate planet. I remember reading some unofficial tie-in book to the Spider-Man movie which featured comments on the various Spider-Man animated series and they said that they were pretty much forced into the Counter-Earth situation.

I think that was pretty evident in the series. They had to throw Spider-Man into so many situations and coincidences to force the series along. I was wondering if they had all these legal problems with getting a Spider-Man cartoon off the ground why not just not do one or wait until the legal problems cleared?
