This issue of entertianment weekly listed their picks of top shows on tv Their top 3 animated shows are all [as] originals, and look who's at #1!
1. Morel Orel - A lesson on waste leads Orel, a biblically devoted naïf, to market urine as an energy drink to elementary school. You're either running for the TV right now - or totally disgusted.
2. Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law - Best case? Defending evolution when Capt. Caveman's son was forced to wear a sign to school attesting "I am only a theory."
3. Robot Chicken - A witty stop-motion series that's as much an ode to nihilism as it is to 70s and 80s TV.
Hooray for Orel!
Robot Chicken as #3, though? more like #20, in my opinion.
Seems that ththis category might be for 15 min only as Simpsons and South Park were in the "comedies" category.

Witty? Robot Chicken!? Hmm... I'm not seeing it.
"Robot Chicken as #3, though? more like #20, in my opinion."
Amen to that.

I think these three are definitely the best three originals that Adult Swim has to offer. I don't think they could have made better choices.

as much an ode to nihilism Buh? I don't really see that.
EW is stupid but hey Moral Orel neat.
EW has been Adult Swim's friend in the media since Day 1.
Can't argue with their choices.

Screw that. Birdman is the only one there that deserves to be in the top three. I'm sorry but Moral Orel sucks. It's horrible. And Robot Chicken is good but not top three material. Where's Space Ghost? Where's Aqua Teen? EW are idiots.

butteredtoast6: You're not reading that sentence well enough
butteredtoast6: Is it really an ode to 70's and 80's TV?
butteredtoast6: It's more like a collection of recognizable characters put into modern day situations
butteredtoast6: Like...

You're stuck anywhere from three to five years in the past.
I mean, those two shows might be my favorite AS originals of all time, but they hit their peak and fell off long, long ago.
Kudos to Orel though.

The top 2 I can agree with but 3, no way. I don't get why so many people like the show. Calling Robot Chicken witty is like calling Pokemon violent. There's too many "kick in the nuts" jokes or people hitting each other jokes to even think of calling that witty.
I'm not saying it should be, but I'm very surprised that Family Guy isn't on the list (unless like said, it's only for 11 minute shows or shows with 2-3 stories per episode like Spongebob or the Eds.)

Orel and Birdman deserve to be up there, but Robot Chicken? I'm shocked EW would go for that stuff. It's funny, but it's not top 3 material. Tom goes to the Mayor would be far worthier of the spot.

Isn't EW and AS owned by the same company, Time Warner? Media companies have always been trying to promote different things within through another source, go figure. For example, a channal promoting a magazine which ironically is owned by the same company.
In my opinion, Robot Chicken is funny since it makes fun alot of things rooted from pop culture that I know. Robot Chicken's slapstick comedy makes me laugh and it does have its moments, but I would've preferred Venture Brothers or 12 Oz. Mouse as number three on the list.

Giving the #1 spot to Morel Orel just helps to prove Entertainment Weekly's stupidity. What's next, calling 12 Oz. Mouse "TV Show of the Year"? All of the AS originals (I mean the shows made by Williams St., so this excludes shows like Venture Bros. and Robot Chicken) are crap. Horrible animation, no plots, and as little effort as possible. They should just stop wasting their time and do something better with their resources, like funding a second season of FMA or something. Unless that idiot Mike Lazzo steps in - when it comes to anime, he gets into a big hissy-fit because it's too complex for his feeble little mind.

This isn't a Williams Street show. It's made in Los Angeles. For some reason WS insists on putting their logo on shows they don't make (this show, Robot Chicken, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Minoriteam, Lucy). I don't get why they're so selective about it too.

I really cannot see any of the three shows being the top three animated shows, let alone on Adult Swim. I mean Robot Chicken really isn't witty, it just throws in a lot of old school refrences at really fast break neck speeds which most of the time aren't funny. Harvey Birdman has a good episode now and then but it has in a sense jumped a shark. (I personally know one person who sweared off it after the new season). Morel's decent, but not top three material. Boondocks, Venture Brothers and Aqua Teen IMHO would be better picks for top three spots. And thinking about it, what about shows from other networks that AREN'T from Adult Swim? Very suspicious the top three choices were all AS thinking about it.

First of all, how can you say Moral Orel has no plot? The whole point of that show is not that he's doing bizarre things, but it's WHY he's doing them. The plots are very intricately woven so that everything makes sense. Also, the stop motion animation is some of the best I've seen on TV period. It looks like it takes a lot of effort to make that show. I don't think it's Entertainment Weekly that's stupid in this case.

Space Ghost ended, I'll give you that but Aqua Teen is still going and it's still damn good. I laughed more at Aqua Teen's Deleted Scenes From The Movie episode than I've EVER laughed at Orel.
Master Shake: Well I don't have a brain. All it does is get in the way of my catlike instincts. Hissss.
Meatwad: When I was at that mall, the security guard took me down to the bathroom and he said "This is how you DON'T touch people!" and so I says "What!?" ... I shouldn'ta' said that, should I?
Master Shake: Now fellate me as I eat this expensive ham. *Gets slapped. Cuts back to Shake and Meatwad.* And she did! Twice!

I agree. They're stupid because Orel isn't funny, just boring. The animation is ok and the plots have great thought behind them. It's just not funny.

Yes. Those quotes prove everything.
I don't care that you don't find Moral Orel funny, but it's pretty pathetic to pull out your favorite lines to prove that your opinion is the correct opinion.

I'm just saying that those lines are funny lines (In my opinion) from the latest episode of Aqua Teen to air, a show that he said had gone downhill.

All right, I still think that Aqua Teen is funny, but maybe I should restate my point in a manner like this: EVERYONE knows what Aqua Teen Hunger Force is and it doesn't another feature in EW. Matter of fact, it's still probably the only AS original that everyone can universally agree that it is, at least, chuckle-worthy.
And look on the bright side: even if you don't like Orel, this gives AS even MORE attention.

Has there ever been universal agreement on subjective lists that come out of any pop culture magazine in the history of pop culture magazines? Seriously, how they ranked or for whatever reason even decided to rank the three shows is meaningless.
I'm not surprised that a mainstream outlet picked up Oral given the content and subversive overtones towards religion. It's a pretty risque show in many ways.
Not surprised to see Birdman mentioned either. In fact I am certain I have seen EW cover Birdman at least two or three times in the past.
Robot Chicken's inclusion doesn't surprise me in the slightest seeing as how it was a huge hit and still brings in good numbers well into later runs. It is a hit show, hit shows get attention. The structure of the show practically panders to the type of content EW has made its mark featuring, namely pop culture and pop icons. And of course having Seth Green's named attached to it doesn't hurt either.
Isn't EW and AS owned by the same company, Time Warner? Media companies have always been trying to promote different things within through another source, go figure. For example, a channal promoting a magazine which ironically is owned by the same company.
That might work for Viacom or Buena Vista, but all the Time Warner companies are fiercely competing against each other. That's why CN has to license shows from the WB instead of the two working as actual partners, why Animaniacs and Tiny Toons went to Nickelodeon for a while, and why CN can't air Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action (they're far too expensive for CN's relatively meager budget).
