The song "Superman (It's not easy..)" by 3 Doors Down(I think). I think the song would work well with the premise of Smallville. The song talks about Supes human side. I guess they don't want to use any songs that mention "Superman" or wearing a costume.

That song would b ..um, 100% better than that cliched "SOME BODY SSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEE ME!" intro they're using.

I think they havent used the "Superman" song because its
obvious.
Thats the only reason, cause your correct in stating that
the song is perfect for the series ...(although maybee not
for the credits - but definitely as one of the 1200 throw away
songs they include in every episode).
LOL ... I like the " SAAAAAAAAAAVE MEEEE" song. ;)

Not by 3 Doors Down. I think you're thinking about Kryptonite. Superman is by Fighting For Five.

Hey, now, I thought Kryptonite was a pretty good song, they just played it to death.

There's also Superman's Dead by the Canadian band "Our Lady Peace". Oh wait....:)
The current theme song is okay, but I'd like to see this series take a rotating approach every season. I don't reall ylike how some shows (Friends, Dawson's Creek) have been stuck with the same theme song over and over and over. Most of the theme songs are just really, really annoying now.

Change is a great way to kill off a good show.

I wouldn't change anything about the show. I doubt a massive amount of fans would drop the show just becuase they change the theme. Do you have any cool suggestions, Terminatah? (and I've been meaning to say: Awesome avatar! Very nice!)

LOL! I couldn't agree more about the strangeness of "Somebody saaaaaaaaave meeeee!!!!" :p Three Doors Down is great, and I think their song'd be perfect. Oh well.
I'd personally like more significant "enemies" for Clark like the guy from the first episode. Otherwise it just seems like a Buffy imitation: the main character has special powers, ergo so does all the bad people he/she faces. Except with Buffy or Angel the senario makes a bit more sense to me. I still like all the shows though.

I think "Kryptonite" would be a great song for the show. Especially since the words are "If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman." ;)
BTW, I really do like that song and would prefer it to the theme song. Then again, I'd prefer "Loser" or "Smack" or a dozen other songs to the current theme, but that's just me. :D

I think they should never change the theme song. It's already become somewhat synonymous with the show itself, and the simple lyrics imply what it's all about (Clark is the ultimate savior, but he surprisingly needs the most help to get through his life). Not only does one uniform song help define the show for audiences, its familiarity will keep them tuning back in.

And then there's that "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" song by the Spin Doctors... of course, if they played that, I'd have to hurl a dense object at my TV.

"save me" is a pretty good song. i like da sound of it... it sorta has a little meaning since, clark is kinda gettin screwed w/ da use of his powers, considering how he alwayz manages to lose his chances w/ lana ( :) ).
besides, didn't they say they didn't want to make TOO much references and rely to much on Superman himself?

i think "Superman" is way better than the SAAAVE ME song... another suggestion... maybe they could remix the original theme music by John Williams... that would be sweet... even for a Batman purist like me... :p

The save me song works I think. But Superman is my fav by FFF, and it really fits for the show, I wish they'd use it. And I know there is one main singer, but aren't there five people in the band? I assumed that's why it was called Five for Fighting.

I really like Remy Zero, but even I was a bit surprised to hear "Save Me" as the theme for Smallville. But it's grown on me, and I understand why they dont want to use a song that has overt Superman references. The show's not about Superman, it's about Clark Kent's journey to becoming Superman.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Five for Fighting refers to the term in hockey, "5 for fighting" as in fighting - penalty, 5 minute major. I dont think it has anything to do with the # of members in the group.

is that where "five for fighting" comes from? I thought it was from five fingers.. to make a fist which is used for fighting.
