A 2-hour syndicated programming block of anime titles from the Funimation Channel has been picked up by Colours TV, a channel on Dish network's satellite service. It will air nightly at 10pm in April on the channel. Other TV channels nationwide will have the option of picking up the syndicated package too and it may include individual over-the-air broadcast stations as well.
Here's an official press release from Anime News Network:

If I'm not mistaken, to receive this programing you have to have two dishes on your system. While it shows that I should be able to obtain this, I cannot. The majority of my stations come off of satellite 119 with a handful coming from satellite 110, including this one. I would either have to purchase another dish for a couple hundred dollars or rent one monthly, and I'm not feeling lead to do either, not for the Funimation cataloge of titles anyway. Those that I really want I'll purchase.

If you have the 20" dish installed (not the 18" one), you don't need a second 18" installed. The 20" reads both 119 and 110.

Quick note from SakuraCon - Funimation is shopping around two different syndicated blocks; one TVPG and one TV14. The ColoursTV block will have content from each block. They hope these syndicated blocks will also do well in addition to helping promote the Funimation channel, and they just might what with syndication space opening up again post-CW transition.

It would be great if the block could come to independent over-the-air stations that have large market penetration like WWOR-9 in NYC and not fall on low-power channels that nobody gets. Too bad I have DirecTV.

Speaking of that kind of stuff, David Williams mentioned that the DirectTV launched a new satellite recently. Now, that's largely to give more room to HD, but with a little luck, it'll free up spots for atleast a couple of linear anime channels (as Funimation and ADV both have stuff worth watching in their respective catalogs as it stands, but especially given what is likely coming down the pipe.) The bandwidth is still tight, but if they can use the move to HD to sort of seize a piece of bandwidth, it could really break things out.
Still, the syndication blocks could really change things, especially in relation to shoujo titles if that route is persued.

ANy indication of when Colours will start running the Funi block? The channel's online schedule through mid-April doesn't show any anime. (^_*)

You should be asking why doesn't DirecTv have Colours TV, because that's where the block is going to air. Dish Network has the channel, while Directv does not.

No clue...whenever I e-mail Directv about acquiring possible channels they say (essentially), "Directv does not dicuss their programing and/or channels, thanks for the e-mail"

Colours' online schedule through May 7 doesn't show the anime block. I was under the impression that this won't make air until late summer or fall. (^_*)

Right on!
And it looks like LA will be the lucky first city to see the complete full-blown Funimation Channel on the same day. If anyone here gets it, let us know what it's like!
This is welcome news for me right after YTV cancelled Case Closed! (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=167322) I'm looking forward to a daily dose again!
EDIT: Fixed link to other thread.

I'm still utterly baffled why they are starting this network in LA and spreading from there.
If anything, shouldn't they be starting from where they are located?
Not that this has anything to do with them being based 20 miles away from where I live or anything, mind you.
