"By My Road"

Sometimes as I make my way
down the winding, splintered path
I wonder if I've seen this road
Before the rule of Wolf's wrath

I see the crows above me
And hell and heaven ahead
With Charon riding aside of me
And the Styx beneath his dead.

The North Star hidden from my sky
A tower hung there instead
Its head turned towards the blackened earth
Its base in clouds blood-red

Why do I feel like
I've been at this fork before?
My steps have been painting this road
unwritten until I reach the shore.

The comet and moon fly over me
The oak brushed by my fingers
I can't chatch that chariot no mo'
And wait for the sun that lingers

By my road.
By my road.

Do you see the wings ahead of me, do you see the ship?
Do you feel the waning roses, and blind delusive whips?]
It's raining, my blood...
It's raining, my people...
My shadow, through flood...
Dripping off the steeple

I can't catch that chariot no mo'
And wait for the sun that lingers

By my road.
By my road.

This is actually a song I composed, by I can't really put the music here, so I just put the lyrics. Please tell me what you think! There are a lot of allusions in this piece, so if something doesn't make sense...well, I guess that's part of the beauty of it :P

I got the Greek mythology bits (Charon, the Styx and Apollo's sun chariot), but that's about it. Still, that was a very nice little piece: unlike most poems, it manages to be downbeat without obnoxiously depressing. So in creating a poem I actually like - thought I don't quite know what it means - I must congratulate you.:anime:

thanks. Well, there's references in some divination symbols like the upside-down tower (false hope), the wolf, and a few other things. Generally the North Star is a sense of direction, crows overhead are death, oak is long life, the shore is the end, the comet and moon mean other stuff...lots of symbolism.

Wow, those are really good lyrics. If only I could hear the melody and sing along... No, seriously. I would sing that in a heartbeat; beautiful, looping words, very melodic. Very, very nice.

Thank you! I'm still working on the right chords, to tell you the truth. I only wish I could have put the whole song up, but unfortunately, I'm not computer spiffy enough to do that. :crying:

Thank you very much! I'm sure you're a good writer, too, no need for jealousy :p :p
