True, but I think Dic sold AoStH to BKN (it looks dated anyways) and SatAM is too dark for Saturday mornings now.

So they're just putting old shows back on?
Sonic Underground doesn't even have a proper ending --
I've been meaning to ask.. where does the 'SatAM' acronym comes from? I mean normally doesn't it refered to a Saturday (Sat) morning(AM) block?
In the Sonic community, SatAM refers to the Saturday morning series simply because no other Sonic series has aired on Saturday mornings.
Anyway, *checks date on article* Holy crap you're late... But yeah, I didn't know about this either.

As part of the multi-year deal, "CBS's Secret Saturday Morning Slumber Party," will feature three hours of FCC-compliant children's programming and serve as a platform to introduce new kids programs created by DIC. In addition, it will feature successful series from DIC's extensive library of animated product, including the Emmy Award-winning series Madeline and Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego, Sabrina: The Animated Series, Strawberry Shortcake, Liberty's Kids, Trollz, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, Archie's Weird Mysteries, The Littles, Inspector Gadget's Field Trip and Sonic Underground.
Wow, I sure HOPE they're going to try to make a new show. That's a lot of regurgitation.....that they've already ran over and over and over.
I wish the original Inspector Gadget counted as an educational show. It only has the special message at the end, like most other DIC shows did at the time, but there are newer DEEK programs that are even less educational that get E/I.

I use to think that the FCC rule was so stupid. But if that rule means being able to watch Carmen Sandiego on saturday mornings again, then I'm all for it! I wish they would bring back The Littles.

If you actually click that link listed, it lists 11 shows for 3 hours- including Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century and The Littles- which means only 6 of those 11 shows can air. DiC will probably be rotating between the 11 shows they have listed, and they've also said they will be creating new E/I shows for the block that could premiere later, so this schedule will be subject to consistent changing.

There IS actually at least one new show destined for CBS' Secret Saturday Morning Slumber Party (which sounds kind of contradictory to the whole point of getting kids out of bed on Saturdays, but whatever).
http://www.cynopsis.com/view_cynkids_text.cfm?ID=946
DIC Entertainment introduces Horseland, a new entertainment brand with an animated series (26 x 30 min) that is slated to premiere this fall as part of the new CBS Secret Saturday Morning Slumber Party programming block. Targeted to Girls 6-12, the adventure series features a mix of 2D & CGI animation and is based on the website www.horseland.com (http://www.horseland.com/), where kids are invited to train, buy, sell and breed virtual horses. The TV series is about a group of friends (5 girls and 2 boys) brought together by their love of horses. DIC is also developing a licensing and merchandising program that will launch in spring 2007 in key categories (e.g. toys, apparel, mobile, publishing etc.). DIC will debut the series at MIPTV 2006 next month. So yeah, it looks like CBS and DIC are going to try to cut into the girl audience ABC Kids and 4KidsTV are currently sharing.
Let's hope it's not horrible...
the adventure series features a mix of 2D & CGI animation Check please.
Given the nature of the show and the name of the block, I'm going to assume this is going to be a more girl oriented block. Sabrina's Secret Life and one of the Archie series (likely Weird Mysteries) are givens, Sonic Underground maybe (music)... some other shows like Madeline... Yeah. Basically just a Saturday morning regurgitation of their syndicated block I guess.

DIC Entertainment have re-acquired rights to 20 television series from Disney and Jetix Europe, C21Media reports (http://www.c21media.net/resources/detail.asp?area=79&article=29561). The deal includes such properties as Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff.
Discuss this news in The Toon Zone - General Animation Discussion. (http://news.toonzone.net/post.php?ID=9783)
Okay, I think I will.
According to this, the reason we haven't seen the original IG and Heathcliff along with DIC's other shows is that Disney held the broadcast rights up to this point. So, we might be seeing them again soon on TV. At least, I hope.
I also can't tell if this is just a Europe thing.

Here's a more thorough list of what DiC has gained back.
The slate of top-programming, which will be offered at MIP-TV this year, includes, <i>Inspector Gadget</i> (86 half-hours), <i>Beverly Hills Teens</i> (65 half-hours), <i>Care Bears</i> (11 half-hours), <i>Dennis the Menace</i> (78 half-hours), <i>Dennis the Menace</i> specials (3 hours), <i>Get Along Gang</i> (13 half-hours), <i>Heathcliff</i> (86 half-hours), <i>Hulk Hogan</i> (26 half-hours), <i>Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors</i> (65 half-hours), <i>Lady Lovelylocks</i> (10 half-hours), <i>The Littles</i> (29 half-hours), <i>MASK</i> (75 half-hours), <i>Photon</i> (26 half-hours), <i>Pole Position</i> (13 half-hours), <i>Poochie</i> (1 hour), <i>Popples</i> (23 half-hours), <i>Rainbow Brite</i> (13 half-hours), <i>Starcom</i> (13 half-hours), <i>Sylvanian Families</i> (13 half-hours), <i>The Littles Movies</i> (6 hours) and <i>Ulysses 31</i> (26 half-hours).
Why are they listing Care Bears as having only 11 episodes? The thing had a merchandising blitz and two feature films!
Some of these things I can't see ever being run again outside of DVD boxsets. But you never know what'll enter those crazy Frenchies' heads.

Looks like DIC's going to use the TV shows, that are currently in syndication. So much for the chances of seeing classic Inspector Gadget and Super Mario Bros. Super Show getting a new TV airings. Oh well, I can still enjoy watching both shows when they are out on DVD.

I must be really out of it, how did Disney gets all those properties before that DIC had to go and get them back?
I'm well aware of Disney buying ABC in whole, and then getting the entire Family channel from FOX, who they had bought from someone else way back when it was just the Family Channel, and bought all the FOX Kids shows with it, while licensing the previous time slots of FOX Kids on affilates to 4KIDS, who created the FOX BOX, then changing its name to 4KIDSTV.
I'm sure this is probably something I missed in the internet news awhile back, but I remember Nick having alot of rights, or at least deals with DIC for alot of them, such as IG and Healthcliff.
So.....how did Disny get all those shows again?

Whoa! Slow it down there, kidz!
Right now, the DIC/CBS lineup is still murky. The only show I see confirmed is the original series, "Horseland".
And since when did DIC had to re-acquire "The Littles"? It'd been part of their syndicated package w/Tribune the last couple of seasons.
Aside from "Horseland", DIC is only supplying CBS with shows that have been recycled again and again the last few years. To wit:
Archie's Weird Mysteries: Originally on Pax 1999-00, then has been in syndication off and on.
Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego: Originally on Fox, then moved to Pax in 1999.
The Littles: Originally aired on ABC all the way back in 1983! Still relevant today, IMPO.
What I'd like the lineup to look like:
10-Carmen Sandiego
10:30-Horseland
11-The Littles
11:30-Liberty's Kids (if they can get that off syndication)
12-1: I don't know. My local CBS affiliate runs these Sundays from 7-8.
FWIW, Care Bears were originally produced by Nelvana. DIC must've gotten the rights for a revival, which might explain the 11 episode lot.

Just to note, according to Mediaweek Magazine (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/recent_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002275063), DIC and CBS today announced the slate of shows for their block this fall. It's going to be a mix of animated and live-action programming. Eight shows are announced (five new, three old), but CBS is keeping their three-hour block, so two shows will not be on at the start. Which two those are aren't mentioned, nor is a schedule, which assumedly will be announced at a later date.
The shows, listed with a brief blurb.
New Animated Series:
- Horseland (show with kids and horses, where horses and other animals can speak to each other)
- Kooky Kitchen (comedy-action series about a magical kitchen hidden underneath a famous restaurant)
- Littlest Pet Shop (12-year old girl learns about life from her pets)
New Live-Action Series:
- Cake (13-year old girl gets her two friends to help her host a cable access show)
- Dance, Dance, Dance! (a show that teaches kids how to dance)
Old Animated Series:
- Sabrina: The Animated Series (currently in syndication)
- Trollz (currently in syndication)
- Madeline (last seen on Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney block)
If anything, the line-up looks interesting, to say the least. But definitely girl-skewing, as I thought before. Not anything that sticks out that I'd watch personally, at least at this point.

Edit: Please change the topic title to my post's title.
I must admit I am curious about seeing "Sonic Underground" after "Sonic X". But the others....the DiC Archie never impressed me like Filmation's, and frankly I thought the PBS game show was more interesting than the "Carmen Sandiego" cartoon show.
True, but I think Dic sold AoStH to BKN (it looks dated anyways) and SatAM is too dark for Saturday mornings now.
Ahem. You think SatAM "Sonic" was too dark for Saturday mornings after "Sonic X"? (See http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=2122953&postcount=3)/.)
Personally, I still find it weird that BKN's "Sonic" is owned and marketed by DiC, and DiC's "Sonic" is being owned and marketed by BKN. But I guess I'd like to see them all in order to compare with "Sonic X".
In the Sonic community, SatAM refers to the Saturday morning series simply because no other Sonic series has aired on Saturday mornings.

I did like "Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century". No classic, but a bit of fun with some twists on the authentic Arthur Conan Doyle stories.
That cool, but I wish they could bring the some of the other old shows back though.
I would love to see "Pole Position" again.

Well, if they're going to do go after the gals, they should bring back "Sailor Moon"--except Toei has pulled the plug on that (pity, the state of competition is such that SM might rack up some real Nielson numbers). Well, if they can learn from some of their past blunders on "Sailor Moon", the option is always there for DiC to try to pick up the live-action SM season or some of SM's imitators being ignored in the U.S., like "Red Hooded Cha Cha", "Nurse Angel SOS Ririka", "Tonde Buurin" AKA "Super Pig"--or maybe something really daring in the magical girl genera like "Full Moon" or an anime remake of "JEM" (hey, if they're doing anime remakes of the likes of "Powerpuff Girls" and "Sonic"....).
If DiC wanted to be a really cut-throat competitor, they could yank the rights to the remaining 188 remaining "Do Re Mi" episodes right out from under 4Kids noses before that show becomes a real hit....
Oh if only they'd get the rights back to Ulysses 31 and The Lost Cities of Gold.
I found the former a crashing bore, but the latter is a really great series. Somebody should bring it back.

Simple. DiC and Disney merged.
Basically, DiC has yet to fully recover from the disaster this marriage turned out to be. Disney mismanaged DiC's library badly (except for making a couple pretty great movies on "Inspector Gadget"), and DiC eventually ended up bolting.

*ahem*
THEY MADE A VOW THEIR MOTHER WOULD B... wait, WHAT? Underground is a no show?
Aww.

Oh, yeah, Sonic X. Well, I think SatAM is called such because when it first came out, there were two Sonic series ("Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog"), and the two series could easily be confused (I recall people claiming that their cable providers goofed up and listed the Toon Disney airings of Adventures as "Sonic the Hedgehog"). Sonic X, however, has that convenient X that prevents such confusion.
