It seems like he's the only hero that comes to mind who didnt have a teen counterpart. I mean, even Catman got one.

I never really looked at it, as he's never really needed one. There is an entire army of Green Lanterns, so there's never really a loss if one needs backup. Even when the Corps was taken out during the initial Kyle run, there was always Alan Scott or Jade.

Doiby Dickles was the only thing Alan Scott ever got. Remember, the Corps didn't exist as a comic concept yet so he really didn't have any GL back-up.
In the Silver Age, GL was give "Pieface" who wasn't exactly a teen, but seemed small and subservient enough that he filled the same role.

What about that blue alien-like human from the Filmation animated shorts (I believe his name was Kairo (sp) )? I'm sure if he appeared in the cartoons, he had to have made an appearance in the comics.

Kairo did not appear in the comics, thankfully. Seanbaby.com's SuperFriends page did a great job of analyzing Kairo's usefulness to GL and GL's missions at the page http://seanbaby.com/superfriends/greenl.htm What I found especially funny that I'm not sure Seanbaby expressed in his site was that Kairo was blue skinned and the Guardians of the Universe were white.
Years later on Batman Beyond, the Green Lantern in the Justice League on the either-loved-or-despised episode "The Call" was designed as an homage to Green Lantern's Filmation friend.
