Is anyone watching Chrono Crusade? I've been watching it on Showtime each week. I like it so far. There are a lot of questions which need to be answered but in time, I'm sure they will be.

So what you othe posters think of this series?

Manga is better in every concevable way.

I've seen the first DVD. The last episode on that disk was surprising. A good way to end a volume I guess. One big revelation.

I haven't been able to see any more of Chrono Crusade. I've been meaning to, but it just hasn't happened. Meh

The ending is really depressing. That's all I'm saying.

What's the relation between this series and the video games?

I assume you're referring to Chrono Trigger...they are two complete separate entities. Although, their logos are similar to one another.

That's the entire reason my roommate bought the first volume. :P

On another note, you gotta love banners that actually say "BUY ME!"

Manga is better in every concevable way.

Except, of course for the fact that it isn't animated or in color.

(Why is there not a rule against making a post like that?)

Anyways--I don't have Showtime, so I didn't even know it was coming on that channel, but I did watch CC up until the last six episodes. Really good anime that I would've finished except seventh volume had a scratch on it, so rather than miss three episodes and finish up, I decided to wait until later to finish it.

It's the series I'm currently getting on Netflix and I'm up to vol 4.

The series is fantastic and much more than the whole "nuns with guns" thing that I expected based on others' opinions. I'm really loving it.

And frankly, the fact that Gaara's VA does Chrono is absolutely hysterical (in Japanese, btw) and ironic. :D

Worst, most unfair end ever.

I would have to agree, it was tragic. They made no way to work around it either. But at least you knew it was coming and not a secert. The one girl joining the org. in rememberance of the two at the very end of the story was such a tear-jerker.

Chrono Crusade was awesome, although I agree with everyone that ending was sad...The whole series is fascinating, especially if you are interested in American history in the early 1900s. The DVDs also have "Azmaria's classes" where one of the characters teaches you more about the history and other things that come up in the series. I am eagerly waiting for the manga as well. Chrono is one of my personal fav animes.

Having just finished the series, I have to agree that it was one of the more depressing endings I've ever seen.

However, that's not what made it a bad ending.

Why exactly was Aion alive at the end? That made their whole sacrifice worthless. The show sets itself up for a sequel (aion, new stigma girl, etc) or is it that it only covers half the manga?

A lot of issues were also either not clearly explained or brushed over.
So, Remington was an angel? Um, wtf? And why didn't Chrono just break the contract and put his horns back on?

Remington is basically in a similar situation as the Muse in Dogma, but he could always come back until he renounced God at the end. As for Chrno, Rosette was going to die soon anyway, and he doesn't want to live without her.

Chrono Chrusade is sent in an alternate past.

Therefore, their future is our present.

The fight against evil goes on. It's as simple as that. It can't have a happy ending purely because our world is far from a happy place. Aion lives on, and new heroes need to rise up and continue the work. We can't expect our ancestors to take care of everything for us, do we?

Okay, I can see that working. But did it have to be Aion? Why couldn't it have been a new devil at large? I guess I felt it cheapened Chrono's and Rosette's sacrifice if he lives on and they didn't.

What's the difference?

Heroes rise and heroes fall. And others take their place as the time moves on.

You need to learn about something we call the "Red Queen" effect. Essentially, we need to work as hard as we can to keep things the way they are, without falling backwards.
The Earth has not yet fallen into chaos in the present time, because of the hard work by Chrono and Rosette. That is their legacy.
If they haven't done anything, everything would have been destroyed. How is the fact that they prevented that, a waste? Their goal has nothing to do with killing a particular person or devil. So why would killing someone make it more satisfying an ending for you?

(just being on the safe side here)
Um, because I like it when a villain gets his due?

I do see your point about how what they did prevented chaos and that is what they really sacrificed for. So it I can accept that, yeah. Don't see why both couldn't have happened, I guess.

I'm just starting this series because I accidentally got hold of the music, it was so good I had to see the show.

I like the characters and the animation is great. I'm a little put off by the the mix of off the wall comedy, which is funny, and the seriousness of the story. The devils seem a little too Yugio to really be good

I'm so used to anime having sad endings that I'm often surprised when they aren't tragic.
