Well, it's never too early to have one of these threads I suppose. The new American Dragon season 2 is coming soon and the rumors so far we have:
New Characters:
Huntsboy #88 He is one of two of the Huntsman's new apprentices. According to Jeff, he is Rose's cousin and he is as hip-hop and arrogant as Jake, which ironically shows Jake how annoying he really is.
Huntsboy #89 He is one of two of the Huntsman's new apprentices. He is Rose's cousin and a complete nerd who does not know how to fight.
The Korean Dragon: According to Jeff, he or she will play a key role in Season 2.
Yang Jake: Jeff has confirmed that we shall meet Jake's evil side in Season 2 or 3.
Kittenpuss: A new villain in Season 2. According to Jeff, Kittenpuss has many legs. And new magical creatures like Vampires will appear in the next season. If anyone have any more news and rumors please tell me.

Hey-
I think I can add to this thread. Considering my life seems to be dominated by Dragon, I know a few things about it.
Prepare to be surprised.
The visual style of the show has been rebooted. All characters have been re-designed and the show looks more 'graphic'.
For all you KP lovers out there, it's almost entirely the same staff, minus Mark and Bob, but add in first season's exec producers Matt Negrete and Eddie Guzelian. Adam Berry is doing a real unique musical score.
Also got to hire a personal hero- Nicholas Brendon to do a voice.
There's a whole lot of comedy, but this season we've created an arc for the Jake/Rose story that has a definite ending. These episodes are spread out over the first 18 and can be pretty dramatic at times. There are real important decisions and real important consequences for those decisions.
If you liked my 'heavier' take on KP for 'So The Drama' then you will really like this.

Wow, Mr. Loter, this sounds great. I enjoyed the first season, but I wished the animation would be a bit cleaner and that Jake would stop with the hip-hop language. Obviously I'm not the only one who wanted this. I can't wait until the new season premieres.

That's really good, Steve! I can't wait for the second season. In fact, I didn't even notice that you were also doing American Dragon: Jake Long until now. I really can't wait for the animation to change, too.
I can honestly say that Season 2 has the potential to be a lot better than Season 1, because:
1) Like I said: Animation- I thought the animation was good, but I thought it could have a bit more... well, some tweaking. Still, like I said, the animation is good, and I've honestly seen terrible animations in my life.
2) The Evil American Dragon- I really can't remember much, but I think I've heard a couple of people say that they took this idea from Danny Phantom: The Ultimate Enemy. Now, my response is that I'm really not sure about that, because it always happens in cartoons. I think the Evil American Dragon will be SO MUCH different from the Ultimate Enemy, and I think that the conflict between Jake and Evil Jake will be the best in Season 2.
3) Jake/Rose- These two are a fantastic couple. I really liked the relationship between Jake and Rose during the episode "Ski Trip". I think the relationship between them will continue growing throughout Season 2.
4) More dramatic events- I honestly thought that there were some jokes from Season 1 that fell... a little short. The dramatic events in Season 2 will probably make the series a lot more interesting, but what do I know? I just even hope for a little better comedy during Season 2... not that I thought that all jokes were terrible in Season 1.
5) Korean Dragon- I can really see this character as an ally for Jake Long. I'm always a fan when it comes having the main character team up with an ally.
Keep us updated, Steve! I'm sure you guys are doing a great job. Here's hoping for a wonderful Season 2!

Sounds like it should be cool, I've been curious to see exactly what these new designs are like.
And I've always said that the Jake/Rose angle could use more angst. After seeing the Avatar season finale I know both of the people playing those charecters can do awesome dramatic performances (especially opposite of one another).

Come to think of it Mr. Loter, some of us were really perplexed by how exactly you manage to balance being the head director on two major Disney Channel shows (American Dragon and the new Kim Possible). That seems like a pretty major task. Are they in pre-production at diffrent times of the year? Glad you seem to be in good spirits.

That's a good question; Mr. Loter even helped direct a few episodes of Brandy & Mr. Whiskers this season, which was something I wasn't quite expecting, though I'm glad he helped out with that series as well. Anyway, in regards to the second season of American Dragon, I must say that I didn't really enjoy watching the first season that much, no offense. Maybe the second season will be more appealing, so I'll check it out whenever it airs and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think already season two of American Dragon Jake Long will be interesting.. and the new characters for the series might be a good thing.. but then I also have other questions.. Like the Spud/Trixie Angle..
I mean let's face it.. Spud and Trixie go together with Jake on American Dragon, much like Ron and Rufus , go with Kim ( on Kim Possible).
So now that we got a New Ally (In the form of the Korean Dragon), and new rumors about the Rose/Jake Angle.. I have to ask this.. What about Spud and Trixie? Also what about Fu Dog and Grandpa (I have a feeling that sooner or later Gramps is gonna have to hang it up, as in Retire), and Fu Dog, would be working along side Jake which might have and might be interesting..
Also the other question that is on everyone's lips.. Will Jake's Father Find out about the entire family.. plus will there be a tie in between Professor Rotwood, and the Huntsclan..(and I am betting if this rumor about Rose's Cousin(s) are true, expect something along a Rotwood/Huntsclan team up to take place.. (And also what about the Dark Dragon?).. and what's his scheme in all this..
Ah So many questions.. So little time..

He says without any bias at all :p .
My two big complaints about season one were the fact that the two best subplots of the series weren't milked to their full potential. The romance between Jake and Rose, as well as the Dragon council conspiracy could have been dragged on for much longer with alot more intrigue and drama. I would have liked to see these things uncovered in a T.V movie format (ala A sitch in time or So the Drama). That would have been good I think.
So Mr. Loter any plans for a T.V movie?

Actually I'm not crazy, nor am I really bias about this, MRWU, In fact, I'm fairly serious about this. Grandpa Long will have to retire sooner or later, as the Chinese Dragon, and in fact you gotta think about it.. Sure he can shapeshift between Dragon and Human form, but remember he's the first Dragon who is teaching his grandson the proud heritage of being such a magical creature. and he's getting up there in age. (after all he can't be helping Jake out forever (and that's where I think this suggestion of the Korean Dragon comes into play.)
As for my other comments, I think I'll stick fast to the fact that Sooner or later Jake's Dad is going to find out that his family including his father in-law, and his youngest Daughter are in fact magical creatures. heck if Spud and Trixie can figure this out (and we all know that Spud doesn't have much Brain power..) well then it should be sooner or later that Mr. Long (Jake's father) is gonna figure this out.. what the outcome of this will be? Hard to tell.
As for Rose and the Double trouble team of Huntsclan (Who could be Rose's Cousins? It's hard to say on that one as well. It would be a real surprise if just like Kim Possible Rose has Twin Cousins (hence the initial Rumor about Huntsboy#88 And #89..)
But the real interesting angle I find is that maybe just Maybe Spud and Trixie will play a bigger role in season 2..(Heck Look at Season 1..they already know Jake's a Dragon, they know that Fu Dog can talk, they know Gramps is a dragon as well. and probably will figure out that Jake's Sister Haley is one too. so who says that maybe Jake and Trixie might have a bigger role in the scheme of things? We shall wait and see.

I tend to agree with what you say there I.R. and in fact I too felt the whole Jake/Rose angle was way too short (I mean it spiraled to a final conflict in "The hunted" and in fact the Dragon Council Conspiracy, with the Dark Dragon was cut way too short. I think this could have been a rather nice arc to Carry into Season 2 but with Season 1 being only 20 or so episodes long Maybe the creators of this show were hedging a bet.. Just in case people didn't watch..
but now that we Get a Season 2 for Jake, and it's in the works is my guess.. I think some of those short track ideas might be expanded on.. heck the angle I am looking at is the Rotwood/Huntsclan/Dark Dragon angle..(Imagine Rotwood selling his information about Jake (as he is keeping a sharp eye on him) to the Huntsmaster (and the Clan.. Rose as we all know, knows Jake is who he is.. and probably ran off not telling anyone as to why she did..) the Huntsclan and Dark Dragon cut a Deal to take down Jake but in the End the Dark Dragon or the Clan gets double crossed.. and a Dragon war could ensue..
as for the Korean Dragon.. Any takers that the Character will be female? (Hence now we got a new Complication.. a Rose/Jake/Korean Dragon Triangle? (Oh the 'shippers' will love that idea... if it does happen!)

I love this idea.
Rose: Hey Jake.
Jake: Yo Rose
Korean Dragon: Get your paws off my boyfriend!
Rose: You have a new girlfriend?
Jake: She's not my girlfriend. (To KD)You're not my girlfriend
Korean Dragon: Oh Jakie don't deny our love.
Jake: Aw man!
well t coyote Ive seen all scripts so far for season 2 and can tell you that Gramps is not at all in retirement mode. So he will be around for a while thank you!

Well to Quote Ron Stoppable: "Hey It COULD happen." After all I'm starting to think that just like Gramps having a Female Counterpart back in the 1970's (Who later wound up in the middle of the Dragon Council Conspiracy), it wouldn't be surprising to see Jake have someone enter into his life..(and what might be even more surprising is that you get this rather dare I say it, "Fiery" Triangle.. and in the end we see that the Korean Dragon could be working both sides here?
As for MRWU, I say this, "Can you give us proof of this?" after all if you can't support the facts, don't say that Grandpa Long might not retire..(I personally don't see it happening any time soon either, but remember , the writers control the action, and they can if they want, throw a few curve balls at the fans (after all anything is possible.)
:coyote:
I could give you proof or the facts but whats in it for me? The clue is in the name. Thanks Joey.
PS Writers dont control the action the network does. Just ask Jeff G.

I know for a fact that we can trust MRWU's authority on the subject everyone. Let's leave it at that.
I'm really curious to see how radical the design change was for this shows second season. Is it still the same look with say new clothes, or is a total visual revamp from the ground up? Should be interesting.

I'm glad to read this. One of the few reasons I haven't really gotten into "Dragon" is the way the characters look. I'm sorry to say this, but the show looks extremely sloppy. It's great that the characters will perhaps have a new look.
Other things, in case you're interested: I don't like the "funky" way Jake's girl chum talks. It's so exaggerated it's borderline offensive.
And Foo Dog. I just don't like him. The dog on "Juniper Lee" is more likeable, and I don't even like HIM all that much. One of the weaknesses of many TV toons are the sidekicks. All too often they're more annoying than funny. The one sidekick that avoids that (most of the time, anyway) is Ron Stoppable. I wish Foo Dog would go away or be used as little as possible unless he gets a personality redesign as well. JMHO.
On the plus side, the show is really pretty well-written. Jake's family, especially his mom and sister, are believeable and likeable. (But again the dumb dad. What do toon writers have against dads???) Jake is becoming more appealing too. Next to "Ben 10", I think he's one of the more interesting kid heroes.
Good luck with the new season. I'll be watching. :)
