Firstly, I've again returned from the black hole--here are some of my opinions on things that have come to pass while I was away tending to the world:
The Tick--I hate it. It has taken the wonderfully wacky and innocent adventures of the Tick and Arthur and smutted them up. Do I really want to see the American Maid rip-off boinking the Das Fleiter-uh-well, you know who or any other available male character on each episode? Not me. Do I really want to see the raunchy Bat Manuel constantly obsess on sex? Not really. The animated episode about the sidekicks was far superior to the live action one. About the only thing I can say is that they've done a credible job of creating the costumes of Arthur and the Tick (I especially like the Tick's antenna).
I Love Lucy vs today's comedy. Classic slapstick and physical comedy without sexual obsession and toilet humor. What's not to love? Beats the heck out of stuff like That 70s Show and yes, Drew Carey, which could be so much better than it is.
MASH. Sorry, I completely hate this show and avoid it at all costs. I found Hawkeye and his pals' obnoxious, drunken, holier than thou attitudes completely annoying, I was not amused by Klinger's constant drag queen antics (that stuff gets old fast), and I disliked the cartoon villain treatment of Frank Burns (and the guy who replaced him). This was the beginning of dramadies and I hate them to this day. Nothing worse than characters acting silly and unbelievable one minute and then serious and sad eyed the next. Remember when Tim Allen's kids went on drugs on that show? Yuk! I know so much about MASH because my folks watched it. But I've never watched it since. I always
wanted a bomb to fall right on Hawkeye's tent!
The recent shows on WB. PU. Where are Static Shock and Zeta Project. The return of Scooby Doo? Pardon me while I barf! The only thing barely passable is the X-Men show, which has improved in it's new season. Everything else is basic goat snot!
