Time to Go ghost.
Danny Phantom has a new episode tonight.
This time Tucker is in the spotlight as he becomes intertwined with an ancient Egyptian Pharoh, and his minions.
Wow this should be a great night for Cartoon lovers, Foster's is new, Avatar begins book 2, and a premeir DP.
Anyway, come back here to discuss it.

I hope this episode is a lot better then last episode's "Beauty Marked". That said, it's nice to finally see a Tucker episode. Poor guy was due for one for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

Yup. On right now.
Notice how the Sphinx design (from the commerical) are like the FOP. Jesus try to make it seem less noticable.
Why was there a Roman collosium in Egypt-land?

Hello people its been a while since I've posted. Any who I enjoyed the episode King Tuck. It had a lot of humor and darkness in it at the same time. Plus it was nice to see Danny's Ghostly Whale back, I love that attack, its a favorite of mine :)
It was also nice seeing the school involved agian. Over all one of my favorite episodes, keep up the good work Mr.Hartman.

Well, like I said before in this topic, poor Tucker was due for an episode centered on him for a while now.
The episode was a far cry better then Beauty Marked. It didn't feel too rushed, the plot didn't feel muddled, the characters acted more in character, and I didn't feel like the lesson of the day was shoved at me completely (although Tucker emphasized it a lot). That said, this episode still wasn't anything of spectacular for me, but solid enough on it's own right.
That said, the good thing was seeing Tucker's development. It worked properly that he'd be one of the most ignored characters of his school (and in some way, I think he's kinda underrated even in the show, heh). The fact that Tucker talks too much for his own good probably is to ensure he doesn't feel invisible to the kids at school, including his own friends. It just took him some 30+ episodes for him to finally speak up and say something and it was nice thing to see in Tucker. It was even nicer to see that he wanted his opinions heard then letting others speak for him. Go, Tuck.
The students and especially Mr. Lancer had some great roles (loved Lancer shouting out in victory when the last piece of the Sphinx was in-place), and the villain was generally decent.
I didn't fall for him as I did other villains. General cliche lackey/royal advisor who'd do anything for their King but ultimately plans to backstab 'em. Eh. Aside from a killer design, Hotep Ra's personality and general mannerism made the episode predictable. We get the lackey/royal advisor kissing up to the king, then king's friends ultimately reveals plans, then lackey/royal advisor starts the betrayal until said king corrects it again. Pretty straightforward. I admit, I was disappointed the scepter controled Tucker for majority of the second half. I'd have very much like to see him learn from his mistakes by letting him have the free will to control his brief rule. But it seems in the end both Tucker and Danny/Sam (especially those two) learned their lessons.
The animation was generally good. Nothing visually impressed me. I did enjoy seeing the egyptian wear on the characters, particularly Sam and Tucker's as well Hotep Ra. I was a bit disappointed in Danny having a lack of any unique wear such as his Knight DP outfit or his Space DP outfit, etc. but that's mostly from the creative side of me and doesn't affect the overall score (although I'm pretty inspired to draw my own). Oh, and I enjoyed the battle, especially whenever they show Ancient Egypt from above. Not the best, but impressive enough.
That said, the episode was solid, but nothing too memorable and excellent. It doesn't have that emotional impact the other Tucket episode, "What You Want" had though.
7/10
MY OTHER TWO CENTS:
~ Sam doesn't look so good in eyeliner.
~ Poor Tucker. Getting chased and beaten up by girls for two episodes in a row! Although this extra bit in the end was dragging on though.
~ I personally find Dash's method to win the school election kinda hilarious, if not brutal.
~ It's kind of weird how no one really reacts so surprisingly when Tucker or Danny carried the sceptor during the school. Wouldn't they react faster that the scepter was "stolen" from the museum...although Danny did put to rest saying he'd take it back...
~Since when is Danny's jumpsuit suppose to be a two piece suit? I was under the impression it's been one piece since...well, the intro of the song.
~ So, apparently Tucker's look-a-like King from the past wore glasses, too? An item I don't think was even invented back then?
~ I don't remember Egypt having coliseums and chariot races inside of 'em.
~ Tucker's feet = Disturbed for life.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to be pretty harsh on this one, if your sensative turn back now.
Quite frankly nothing really happened. I mean we've seen the "Tucker goes evil" plot already in season 1. This episode didn't really contribute very much to the series story, it wasn't a particularly great charecter study of Tucker ( What You Wish For, and Doctors Disorders did it much better), and it did nothing to make itself stand out.
Okay before I sound to harsh let me put down the stuff I actually liked.
+Sam was alright in this episode. She had some cool lines, and I especially loved her reactions when Tucker called her "woman", I guess that ties into last weeks ep. But nice little charecter moment in both of those bits.
+Some nice looking fight scenes here, really liked the part where Danny was fighting the scorpion on the pyramid. Plus the return of the ghost wail, always nice to see that.
Now the things I didn't like.
-First and foremost we've already seen the plot of this episode in WYWF. Tucker resents Danny, evil ghost takes advantage of that, Tucker learns a lesson about why to much power is a bad thing, and Danny learns a lesson about appreciating his good friend. The problem is that this episode just isn't as well done, it just kind of hangs in the air neither here or there.
-To many things just didn't make sense. The sceptar was to much of a deus ex machina. I just don't get how they all ended up in ancient Egypt. And how come Danny was able to hold it without going nuts? His ghost powers protecting him? This could have been elaborated on.
-The lack of one of the major villans in this show have really hurt the last two episodes. I didn't really care about this mummy guy. I want Vlad, I want Ember, I want the Ghost King (when are we going to learn about why the Fright Knight turned on him) I want the show villans with some charecter to them.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to give this episode a fairly low D. Actually I think this might have been my least favorite episode of the series. I have pretty high expectations for this show, because I really like it, and I think this one falls short. Oh well, better luck next time, bring on Clockwork.

I woudln't call it dragging as much I would call it... very freaking annoying. I mean seriously, in "Beauty Marked" it was a horrible ending to go out on, but to do it twice in a row made it even worse. If they try that again I will go and make the DP crew around from my anger or something.
But yeah this wasn't exactly the best of episodes. I did like Sam being angried about being called Samantha (guess that's why no one ever really calls her that) and Danny's attempts at fighting the Sphinx, but yeah this episode in general was lame. You really can't get away with the "sudden transportation to Egypt" in DP like you can in FOP. And even if I didn't see the premise, the plot itself was far too cliched. I'm sure "Masters Of All Time" will be better though. Then again it wouldn't be hard to pull ahead of this travesty.

Annoying yes. We don't need to see the same thing in the ending two times in a row, but I still stand by my dragging on feel. I was all, "Just end the episode already", but they continued with Tucker ready to have his eyeballs plucked out by the girls.
Still, this episode is a fary cry better then Beauty Marked, but not by too much.

Actually Masters Of All Time is the next episode. School Spirit is after that and yes that's the next hour long episode.

This has to be one of the most severly overdone plots in cartoon history (the class president campaign thing, not the Egypt thing). Yet this episode was actually enjoyable. A lot better than that horrible episode "Beauty Marked." I'll give it a C.
I saw the Masters of All Time teaser too. THAT episode looks awesome.

Why was there a Roman collosium in Egypt-land?
Well, pedantically speaking, it was a hippodrome that there would be one in Egypt is plausible. The largest and most famous examples were in Rome itself, but the great Roman buildings of entertainments were built all over the Roman sphere, which included Egypt for quite a long time. However, given the Pharonic airs of the episode, I suppose it was a touch out of place.
