Yeah, I know the title doesn't rhyme, but what the heck...

The museum guard reports that while he was making his rounds he observed a statue about to be lifted toward a hole in the ceiling. He claims when the thief saw him, he dropped the rope. Unfortunately, the guard says, many exhibit items were stolen before he arrived.
Slylock Fox says the guard's story is not compatible with the evidence. Why not?

Well, it seems that a display case's glass was broken, and the exhibit items are still on the shelf, and there are many different items on the floor, indicating that the thief didn't take them.

Is that what Slylock means?
