Comic Book Resources has posted an interview with Greg about the new ongoing Gargoyles series (http://forums.toonzone.net/1. Your upcoming Noble Boy is going to be written entirely in rhyme. Why did you choose this unusual method and how does it reflect your time with Maurice Nobel?) from Slave Labor Graphics. The interview includes seven preview pages, four of which are lettered.

It's a good interview and a must-read for all Gargoyles fans. Gives you a good idea where they're going with the comic.

Thoughts?

Interesting. The art ain't perfect, but it'll do. Hopefully either this guy improves quite a bit, or they find someone better suited to the style. I'm looking forward to this :)

The art is leaps and bounds over the horriffic Marvel art.

Coloring is a little off (Hudson is brown not greenish yellow) but the visuals are great and crisp. Wonderful layouts.

I confess that the art doesn't really please me. Something about it just feels clumsy, and for some reason Brooklyn looks like he's about to cry in almost every shot he's in. Of course, maybe that was the idea. It's far from abominable, however, and I rather liked what was presented of the writing, which has always been the draw for me. I'm rather interested to see whence the story will go. There's an awful lot that's laid out and put in place, but no blatantly obvious angle which the story must follow.

And hey, Vinnie!

I will miss the voice acting. Gargoyles had a fantastic cast, but Weisman is right, the voices were good enough that I think I'll be able to hear them in my mind.

All told, I'm very excited about this. I've never been much more than an intermittent (as in trifling amount every few years) comic buyer, but I'm certainly intent on buying this series regularly. Gargoyles is something I loved when I was younger that's still worth my time now, which certainly engenders a certain loyalty.

I like it. I like the art work and the colour scheme. This has potential and I can't wait for it to come out.

To be diplomatic about this, I don't like the art at all. I hope he either improves or we get a better artist. I know of several who would be willing and eager to do it.

Greg's writing rocks, I can't wait for this.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=6886 Oh god, it's beautiful! :crying: (tears of joy.:zim: )

The first six pages of the comic are great. I am going to have to buy this comic.

Is that Vinnie is the second or third panel of the first page of the Gargoyles comic. LOL!!

Second panel looks like Vinnie, but the third panel guy is mentioning what Vinnie did in the Gargoyles Episode Vendettas.

It appears we're going to be treated to The Journey, but with Greg's takes. Though, since we can't guarantee that all reader have watch the series, I wonder if #1 will dedicate a few pages with recaps from Awakening Part One to Hunter's Moon Part Three.

Reading that interview makes me want two things. For the rest of season 2 to come out on DVD this year( I did my part months ago so no one can say I didnt do anything:p ) and that if it was successful enough to get nex episodes...yea I'll keep dreaming that one but yea hopefully the Season 2 volume 2 comes out this December. Im not really that impressed by the art on the inside, I only really like Xanatos but Goliath..man his hair doesn't even look right in some of those panels. But I wouldn't say its atrocious either, maybe this guy will get better in time, and if he doesn't just hire someone else. I do like that spankin cover though.

I'm inclined to agree about the art. Both the inking and coloring seem off. And for some reason they look too pumped up. But maybe that'll be fixed later on.

I wouldn't say the art is bad, it's just different from what we are used to.

And Greg was right! I CAN hear Frakes as Xanatos!

I really hope season 2 volume 2 comes out this year! I don't remember much from that part of the serie and I want to catch up to Hunter's Moon!

Looks good.

Chronologically speaking; is this happening in 1996 (is that when the tv series ended?)?

As expected the first issue is really a different version of The Journey. I suspect that future issues will be more intresting.

Very nice interview.

I'll definately be picking this up. My favorite bit in the interview is that they actually looked into making a 'read aong' audio track for the comic... I don't see how that'd be possible financially, but it's a really cool idea all the same.

I'm not big on the artwork, but it's certainly not bad. Goliath having that 'glossy' sheen to him doesn't really work for me, and the characters, Xanatos especially, could be more 'on model', but that's all very moot. I'm extremely glad Weisman's visiting Gargoyles again, can't wait to pick this up come June...

Interesting that the original creator is involved.

Well, who else would be? Greg's been wanting to do this for years.

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about the art myself. Missing wings have always bothered me. But, I've been waiting almost 10 years, so I won't let that get me down.

Honestly, I haven't read a comic regularly since Disney Adventures years ago, and even then, they were on Mom's tab. :D Never even been inside a comic book store. But there are two things that are on my Buy List this year: Twilight Princess and Gargoyles.

It's coming! http://home.covad.net/%7Eregaltool/t3mp/smiley/headbang.gif

I really gotta go catch up on the "Ask Greg" column sometime. At some point years ago I got forgetful and stopped reading it, but now the backlog is daunting...
