You know, I thought about getting Hulk v. Wolverine as a TPB, but it looked too good to pass up. Now after the directors cut, I wish I had. Way to tell me I just blew money for nothing, Marvel!
-Ultimates #12: I really, really want that cover as a poster.
-Ultimate X-Men #71
-New Avengers #20 & 21
-Thing #8: I always loved the many Marvel Hero poker games. They're always just...fun.
Wow. I just realized that I don't really get much Marvel.

Howdy,
An idle walk through:
- Neil Gaiman's Eternals begins, along with a monster-sized (and monster-priced) HC of the original Jack Kirby stuff. I've got a question in to Neil about whether Kirby's estate is going to see any money from either. The answer (or lack of one) will determine whether or not I spend anything on either. If I have a regret for the NY Comic-Con, it's that I didn't ask DC and Marvel at the "State of the Industry" panel whether they were going to pay anything to the people whose work they're making available again through reprints.
- Giant-Size Hulk #1 further confirms my theory that Marvel is experimenting with great big stapled comics as mini-graphic novels to see how the market reacts to them. I think this is an experiment that should be rewarded. 96 pages of mostly new material for $5 before discount? Yeah, I can do that.
- I might finally buy a Marvel Spotlight issue, since this month's has Neil in it again.
- Nextwave: good for what ails ya!
- The She-Hulk #9 solicit is pretty amusing. I think Dan Slott must have seen the Internet Rampage over the spoilers in that recent Daredevil solicitation.
- Thing #8. Before I review the latest issues I have for the BPoL review, I just want to say that adding Lockjaw the teleporting dog to the regular cast of this comic is one of the most awesome things Dan Slott has ever done. We're talking a move that rivals the re-introduction of Awesome Andy in She-Hulk awesome. Everything is better with an enormous teleporting dog.
- If you skip over the Marvel Adventures solicitations, here's the one for Marvel Adventures Avengers #2:
Hulk hate big-head Leader! Him try to be all green like Hulk but just have big head! And use Abom- inashu--- other green guy Hulk hate! Them in for surprise, 'cause Hulk have friends too! Hulk is a REVENGER!!!
:D
- Marvel Westerns: The Two Gun Kid. I quote:
Written by DAN SLOTT
Penciled by EDUARDO BARRETO
Cover by ERIC POWELL
What a wonderful present to give me after slogging through the Civil War solicitations. >snif< It's so beautiful, I think I may cry...
- After enjoying Sean McKeever and Mike Norton's Gravity mini-series as much as I did, I think I may pop for that Spider-Man Adventures: Doom with a View digest.
- Fantastic Four/Iron Man: Big in Japan trade paperback. R.I.P. Seth Fisher.

Spider-Girl #99- The Hobgoblin story seems a lot more interesting every month.
Spider-Girl Digest Volume 6
The Essential Savage She-Hulk- The entire series in one book, I'm buying.
Wow, this looks like a good month.
To get:
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #96
ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #31 - After "Marvel Zombies", I have to get anything with the zombies in it
ULTIMATES 2 #12 - Really looking forward to this! Nice cover!
FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #9 - The artwork on that cover is gorgeous, despite it seeming like a '90s cover, due to the two hi-tech costumes...
SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #27 - This seems like a nice storyline so far and here's the conclusion. I still think Medina's Spidey looks gross, but he sure does a nice job on The Black Cat ;) It's also nice to see Puma in a big role again! It's been a long time since we saw Fireheart. I also believe that this is the first time we see where Spidey's mechanical arms come from [on this cover].
LAST PLANET STANDING #3 & 4 (OF 5) - Spider-Girl will soon be history for an indefinte amount of time, so you just gotta grab all of her final appearances. Also, LHS was a fun story, so I'm expecting LPS to be as well :)
SPIDER-GIRL #99 - Wow, my heart rate increased a bit when I saw the #99, it means that next month the solicitations will hold the final SPG issue, and that just makes me very sad. I'm sure this final arc is going to make it go out on a high note though!
NEW AVENGERS #20
CIVIL WAR #2 (OF 7)
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #533
NEW AVENGERS #21 - Uhm, what? Disassembled?? This can't be good.
Comments:
DAREDEVIL #86 - This seems like a very interesting arc, but I haven't picked up any DD issues in a long while... but seeing the Kingpin on that cover makes me wish for a good Kingpin story over in Spider-Man again, like the stories we got back in the '80s, with Spidey, Black Cat and Fisk. I enjoyed his appearance last year near the end of Spectacular Spider-Man [the poker game!!], but I'd like to see him in an actual Spidey arc again.
THE THING #8 - Might eventually pick this up. Marvel poker nights are always worthwhile, and the bonus this time is that it'll be written by Slott, who is the man, garaunteeing this will be hilarious!
CIVIL WAR: FRONT LINE #1 & 2 (OF 10) - Why does Spider-Man have those stupid limbs sticking out while he's in the bedroom of a little girl? What is the purpose? Scaring her?
MARVEL ADVENTURES THE AVENGERS #2 - I LOVE, absolutely LOVE that solicitation text!! Hulk should do stand-up ;)

Okay, I can understand what you're saying in regards to the reprint, but if Gaiman's doing his own take on the Eternals, why should you boycott that? You're not boycotting "the Thing" series, written by Dan Slott, (and we don't know if the Kirby estate is getting anything for that)...
I agree with you in Spirit, Ace, but I don't know if I would want to pass up on a new Neil Gaiman project. :D

Wow, DBZALLSTAR! That's quite a list! I thought I collected a lot of comics, but I think you've got me beat.
Anyway, here's what I'm looking at getting from Marvel this month:
Astonishing X-Men #15 - The only X-Men book worth purchasing right now, IMO.
Captain America #19 - I was going to drop this title with the start of the latest storyline, but Brubaker's writing is just too dang addictive for me to stop now.
Eternals #1 (of 6) - Man, have I been out of the comic loop recently! I hadn't heard anything at all about Gaiman doing this as his next project, so it was a total surprise to me to see this turn up in the solicits. I'll always try anything with Gaiman's name on it, so this is obviously on my pull list now.
Squadron Supreme #4 - Best team book on the market by Marvel right now, IMO. I just wish they'd come out on a more regular release schedule - it always feels like ages between issues.
Ultimate Fantastic Four #31 - Written by Mark Millar, and featuring the zombie FF. No way I can pass that up.
Ultimates 2 #12 - The end of the second volume, and also the end of my purchasing on the title. With the rather unimpressive work by Jeff Loeb in recent years, I have zero interest in his Ultimates Vol. 3.
Ultimate X-Men #71 - I'm still kind of luke warm on Kirkman's run on this title, but I am curious to see his take on the Ultimate Pheonix, so I'll probably pick this up.
X-Factor #8 - I'm loving this new Peter David book, though I'm discouraged to see that this issue is a "Civil War" tie-in. Hopefully the whole Civial War thing won't influence the title too heavily.

There are really 2 reasons why I'm singling out The Eternals over the other stuff that's derived from Kirby works. The first is that Marvel is slathering Jack Kirby's name all over this project. Every bit of press coverage they've done makes sure to note that these are Jack Kirby's Eternals as done by Neil Gaiman. By all means, shill on the man's name, but if you're going to carry this on the reputation of one guy, it strikes me as unseemly not to compensate his heirs for it.
The other reason is that Gaiman's in a position to do something about it. If Slott says he's not going to do Thing until Kirby gets some public and financial acknowledgement, Marvel will say, "Fine" and either kill the title or get someone else to do it. If anybody has a shot at pressuring Marvel into doing the right thing at least once, it's Gaiman. He doesn't need the Eternals to pay his rent, and he brings at least as much to Marvel as Marvel brings to him.
The last and least reason is that I wasn't overly bowled over by 1602. I liked it fine, but on balance I'd rather see Gaiman doing something that's his over in the Icon line with Bendis and David Mack.
It does tick me off that Kirby's estate doesn't get a nickel for all the other stuff that he did for Marvel, but blowing off all the rest of that means that I don't get to support people like Dan Slott, Ed Brubaker, Eric Powell, or Mark Waid (to pick 4 creators I like who have worked on Kirby-created stuff). I'm aware that this is a pretty rotten place to be ethically because I'm pitting the needs of one set of creators over another, but it's the best I've got.

That's a fair assessment of the situation. I have to say, I agree with you in spirit, but I'm intrigued by Gaiman taking on the Eternals...I'll definently be checking it out.

I'm interested in Haunt of Horror: Edgar Allan Poe and the Marvel Westerns. Not interested at all in Civil War. I'm getting caught up on Spider-Girl this week after getting my tax refund last week and getting regular pay this week. Hate to say it, but based on what the solicits look like, I may not be around for the finale. My brother reads Cap & DD, but I don't think he'll be into Civil War too much, either.
Underworld kicked off last month, which means I have to catch up on that, too, if I so choose, or wait for the TPB. There are others that fall into that category.
