Gang -

am I the only one who thinks certain characters are clones of others?

Col. Shuffle is Yosemite Sam, obviously, but how about others?

so far:

Speedy = Tweety

Elmer = Porky (quick - which is in 'Ant Pasted'? (I had to watch it to find out))

any others?

The original Bugs Bunny (or as some call him, "the hare") is essentially Daffy Duck in a rabbit suit, and the early Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker is the same way, only the species is changed to woodpecker. Also, Buddy and Bosko, though die-hard fans say different, are pretty much the same thing personality-wise.

You're not alone Dave...

I agree with yours and offer the following additions:

Gabby Goat's character was rolled into Daffy (compare "Porky's Badtime Story" and "Tick Tock Tuckered")

The "Crackpot Quail" was Bugs in a bird suit

There were several characters who were inspired by Lenny in "Of Mice and Men" including Hugo, Benny and Willoughby.

There was a French Poodle in "Dog Tales" who acted exactly like Pepe LePew.

How about Wile E Coyote and Ralph Wolf? Separated at birth?

Well Ralph Wolf is obviously Wile E. Coyote.

In the comics, Honey Bunny was basically a clone of "Hare Splitter"'s Daisy Lou.

How is Speedy like Tweety besides both sharing the same antagonist? Tweety hardly moves at all through his cartoons while Speedy is constantly rushing. And did Tweety ever save anyone besides himself? Speedy has saved his mouse friends many times.

Elmer and Porky? Mmmmm, similar character design I guess, and both have speech impediments. So many people always get these two confused. I guess in the '40's Daffy's trickery of Porky was similar to Bugs' trickery of Elmer, but I think Porky was always a lot smarter than Elmer.

The Texan man with the black hair in THE OILY HARE is basically Yosemite Sam.

The guard in NAPOLEON BUNNY-PART is equivalent to Mugsy in the Rocky/Mugsy cartoons.

wish I could remember the names, but that fish that gives Porky a hard time is pretty similar to the pre-Bugs rabbit that gives Porky a hard time

Listen to Tweety singing in "A Pizza Tweety Pie." He sounds exactly like Speedy.

--there's a senator in "Rebel Rabbit" who sounds like Foghorn Leghorn...and Jay Ward's The Hunter, I've been told, was voiced by the same actor who inspired Blanc's South Carolina intonations.
Not to mention several Hanna-Barbera villains who were cheap Dastardly and Muttley knockoffs and whose names I've thankfully forgotten....

Of course there's the sherrif in STAGE DOOR CARTOON who's a lot like the later Sam.

And if you want to tread over into H-B television territory, you could fill PAGES with similar characters...

I assume you're talking about the fish that appeared in "The Sour Puss" which showed up on the Clampett Show Sunday night. That fish had essentially the same character as the proto-Bugs rabbit and Daffy in his first appearance in "Porky's Duck Hunt". You have to feel for poor old Porky. Every time he went out hunting in those years, he ran into the same personality in a different animal.
