Hello ^_^ you seem to have a very nice forum here.

Is there a good episode of any shows discussed here (or any other shows, for that matter) exhibiting commentary on censorship? I'm doing a project in US Government and I want to make it interesting by making a video collage in Premiere.

Thank you!

There's the classic Itchy and Scratchy and Marge.

Oh yeah, good thinking! I'll definitely include that one.

And the South Park movie. And one of David Firth's webcartoons, but I don't think I can link to it here...

David Firth made the Salad Fingers series, yes? I'll look into his cartoons; if you can say what the toon was called, I'm sure I can find it.

The Child that Smelt Funny, I think.

There's the classic Itchy and Scratchy and Marge.
That was maybe the best of them.

Here's a few more anyhow

Family Guy "PTV"

Futurama "Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV"
Fathers Against Rude TV.

ATHF "Gee Whiz"
has a rainbow coming out of the neck of a decapitated nun. That's even funnier then it sounds.

South Park "It hits the fan"

Fairly Odd Parents "Channel Chasers"
I liked when they went into a Tom & Jerry parody they kind of got in the way of the action and comment about how they can't believe what they used to get away with.

Check out the DRAWN TOGETHER episode entitled, "Terms of Endearment." Not only is it all about censorship but it was banned for a year before it finally aired. It should be rerunning on Comedy Central in the next few weeks. It's also available on iTunes.

If you have any questions about it, send me a private email. I wrote it and am one of the executive producers.

One Freakazoid episode starts with the narrator telling a story, but then the network censor has everything interesting removed.

It's also mentioned in "Good ol' Days", where Timmy is shocked by the amount of mindless violence in old cartoons.

It's a fairly short scene but in the intro to The Simpsons Halloween Special VIII there's a man going over the episode's script and making various edits to it. He then notices the audience and tells them that he's the censor and he's there to protect them from reality. The ratings box in the corner of the screen then floats over to him and stabs him repeatedly until it says TV 666.

The episode of Arthur, ""The Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club" has Arthur and friends having to get book unbanned. It was banned by Mr. Crooswire, because Muffy apparently had nightmares because of them. Without going into too much detail, the nightmare was due to her eating some of her father's ice cream, not the books.

Episode link is here: http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/ecdc/12802.htm

Reminds me of this event:

Norway pulled the series as they believed that the series caused two boys to beat up a girl in 1993 (it was eventually found that the murder was unconnected to the series).

I knew there was a great Animaniacs reference, but I couldn't remember it.
So I went to a quotes page and found this one.
Not out of my own memory really, but pretty funny.

Animaniacs "Turkey Jerky"

Miles Standish "Be gone pests, and give me the bird."
Yakko "We'd love to, really, but the Fox Censors won't allow it."

One Freakazoid episode starts with the narrator telling a story, but then the network censor has everything interesting removed.
I forgot about that one too.
Relax-O-Vision is hilarious, and inevitable.

I've been wanting to say falling off the horse and into a wheelchair sounds like a great bit.

Censorship follows a logic that is so contrived and twisted, it can never be completely predicted.

Upon reading this, I burst out in laughter. I think I'll use this as a signature.
