This is something I've been wondering for a while now, I don't have anything against high pithcted voices in animation, video games, anime dubs, etc, but I get the impression that are are being way overused to the point where without one you have little chance of getting a big role (and big roles seem to use those type of voices a lot)

Not really, but I do find them interesting. I do find many voices with lower ranges interesting, too (I mean, look at people like Steve Blum). I'm no professional, but I believe that pitch isn't always everything, it's how well you can perform (how to make your voice sound "believable" to the audience). You can sound like helium, and not do a good job with a character's role. So, basically, I'm saying that vocal pitch is somewhat important, but it's not as vital as performance of character.

Depends what you watch. I was blown away when I started watching the English dub that comes with Italian Winx Club DVDs. All those girls sounded so pleasant. And I don't think that would fly in the American market, but I'm really enjoying it. (Can't wait to sit down during spring break and watch more)

Well I'm really referring to...well anything these days which I mentioned, I'm talking general animation, anime dubs (specifically dubs from ADV, Funimation and Geneon), video games, etc

I hear him in a lot of stuff, but as far as I'm aware the only lead/main character role he's done is Spike in Cowboy Bebop, I've really heard him in a lot of supporting roles, at least in whatever I've seen that he happens to be in
