Shazam/Captain Marvel instead of Superman?

Would anyone object if the big red cheese were to replace big blue in season 2 or 3? Maybe the story line could be that mongul or Darksied kidnap Superman & the JL recruits Shazam to help find him & at the same time take his place as a member till they do. When they do find him, a brainwashed (AGAIN) supes throws down with the JL & has Bats by the neck when BAM, he gets the snot knocked out of him by Shazam who then stands over a stunned Superman & says "Why don't you try that with me"? I wanna hear your opinions people! :D

I think that sounds like a good idea, however Bruce Timm said in his interview with Jim Harvey that no members will leave the league. I assume that means voluntarily and involuntarily.

Wouldn't happen. Batman would assume that a brainwashed Superman was a likely possibility (it's happened before) and would have a contingency. Captain Marvel's assistance would be unnecessary.

Superman and Captain Marvel are both cool, however Superman should be on the JL, that much is obvious.

and I really wish Captain Marvel fans would quit waving Kingdom Come around as the shining testament theit boy can beat Superman. Do you people ever bother to read the pages *after* Cap is standing over Superman or are you just totally oblivious to that scene with Supes stops Cap in his tracks and the ligtning hits him. You do remember Supes hands around Batsons jaw don't you? Even bigger question, did you get anything out of Kingdom Come *besides* the damn Cap/Supes fight? Did you even read it or just flip the tpb to that page and stop?

Besides, if you just have a hard on to see Cap and Supes beat the crap out of each other then you've missed the point of what either character is really about.

This whole thread is nothing more than yet another thinly veiled lame "vs." topic and yet another stupid excuse for a stomp on Superman fest.

Well, there was also the "Superman vs. Shazam!" tabloid, in which Captain Marvel and Superman are evenly matched, though Cap realizes (with help from the wizard Shazam) that he could easily defeat Superman by using the technique of saying the magic word "Shazam!" and flying away really fast... but he doesn't use it because it would kill Superman.

Of course, this featured the pre-Crisis versions of the characters.

And I do wish people would stop using "Shazam" as if it were a synonym for "Captain Marvel". "Shazam" is either the old wizard or the magic word that Billy Batson and Captain Marvel use to change forms. The superhero in the red costume has only one name, and it ain't Shazam.

the reason i put Shazam in there is so people don't confuse him with Marvel's Capn Marvel who died quite a while ago but some people might not know that. Or the Avenger, the female Capn Marvel. ;)

I'd like to see Captain Marvel appear, but not at the expense of Superman.

I like Superman, but I don't like this version. Usually, when Superman is older, he's stronger. Yet somehow, the process was changed. Now he's older AND weaker. I just don't get it. I mean, if you have to power him down so much to give the other heroes a fair shake, why even put him in the show in the first place?

As far as the topic is concerned, I wouldn't mind seeing Billy in JL. I'd even replace Superman with him if Big Blue continued to get knocked around.

I don't want to see Superman leave because it was his idea to start the JL, and the JL continuing w/o him just kind of strikes me as weird.

The JL without Superman does seem weird. I do like the Captain Marvel character and would like to see him developed more in JL. A Supes against Cap Marvel would be interesting, but as for a winner I'd give the edge to Superman (of course, depending on whether or not he'd be "super" or powered down).
Why can't they just work together?
Cap and WW would seem to have a lot in common, wouldn't they?

You brought up an interesting point Kal-el. Cap Marvel & WW would have alot in common being that he gets all his powers from her Gods. How about the big red cheese guesting in a 2 parter? Maybe coming in to help put down a heavy hitter like Darkseid or Doomsday, maybe even Mongul? Hey! How about him & Supes both get snatched by Mongul & forced to throw down with each other on war world? Then they could team up & wipe the floor with everyone on the planet! I think that would make for a super cool 2 parter.Anyone agree/disagree? :p
