This is the talkback thread for FUNimation Announces New Titles For August (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=9438).

Hmmm, both of the new shows look kinda cool.

Tsukuyomi Moon Phase is probably something I'll check out against my better judgement (if only for manga to anime comparison since I am collecting the manga.)

Very attractive lineup. Heck, this has got to be the first time in a long time that I've seen lineups that had all the shows listed to be this good! WTG, FUNimation! :)

Tsukuyumi Moon Phase is a cute show, although sometimes too heavy on Japanese stage jokes I don't really get (like tubs of water falling on characters head a lot).

I remember it seemed like some of the scenes in Moon Phase weren't finished, they were really static and didn't show any animation. I wonder if that's fixed up on the DVD?

Basilisk is the first Gonzo show I've seen in awhile that was awesome from beginning to end. Of course it may because the show follows the manga POINT FOR POINT and has almost no differences so it wasn't Gonzo making up an original scenario which isn't exactly a strong suit for them.

BTW, I watched the Shinobi live action movie recently which was based on the book Shinobi of which Basilisk the manga is loosely based on. Liked the anime/manga a lot more then the movie although Yukie Nakama is always pleasant on the eyes.

Kodocha's the only buy here for me. I've got enough anime series on my plate, and I'm already getting Tsubasa eventually, so I'll wait on these.

...dibs on screeners Unfortunately, I think that title's going to be delayed, if what I what I read on Anime On DVD correct.

Speaking of delays: is Negima still supposed to be slated for an August release or not? Right Stuf has it listed for August 1 (and Lance did mention at Katsucon that Negima was pushed back to August). However, there's no mention of this title in the August release dates.

IMHO, it's definately against your better judgement, unless you really like lolicon vampire cat girls with the most anoying theme song I've heard in years.>_<

Actually, I love the theme. I mean, french lounge house for anime op? Brilliant.

And I am collecting the manga, which is probably a little more raw compared to anime.

I'll be getting Moon Phase.

Basilisk has too much gore, death, and rape for me.

Yeah, who would have thought that their is something even Go-Chin can't handle.

[/I kid him because I love]

But yeah, Basilisk and SpeedGrapher (which will probably start up not-long after or during Basilisk's release) are going to be some of the rawest titles Funimation's ever dropped. Very graphic violence, heavy sexual elements and they'll probably have a good dose of raw language in the dub just to keep it all even. They'll make Desert Punk look like a family show.

I only saw a few episodes of Baslisk but boy was it awesome. I didn't expect to like it since Ninja Scroll disgusted me. But Baslisik was no problem. I say fans of action anime that can handle mature content should jump for it. I know I will.

technically is there any rape in Basilisk?

Since the female ninjas who are 'raped' are trying to have sex with the enemy because their abilities involve close contact.
