What characters are known for being either very strong or superstrong?

Ones I can think of so far:

Superman (natch)
The Incredible Hulk
Wonder Woman
The Marvel Family (Capt. Marvel, Mary Marvel, and Capt. Marvel Jr.)
Bamm-Bamm Rubble

Others?

HeMan
SheRa
Hercules
Starfire(Teen Titans)
Popeye
Stitch
Beast(Disney's Beauty and the Beast)
Son Goku
Just to name a few. Superstrong characters are a dime a dozen in animation.

From Road Rovers, Exile was originally picked not just for his sight powers, but also his strength. And then somewhere along the way, the writers decided to make coward Shag (not to be confused with Shaggy Rogers ;) ) useful for something, and make him the strong guy instead.

(Can't believe that I still remember this, but when you've been trying to get a popular in its time, if rather obscure now, show revived for the past 10 or so years, you remember this stuff)

Do mecha really count? By that definition, we could list just about every mecha or super sentai robot.

Krypto
Streaky
Slam Tazmanian (or at the very least, he's the "brick" of the crew)
I think the regular Tazmanian Devil counts as well
Super Goof

Ah, but sentient robots aren't the same thing. Megas (unless I missed something) is a human piloted robot, not a character in it's own right. It's like calling a crane a character.

Son Goku from Saiyuki
Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi
Louis Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist
Hercules
Grin from Mighty Ducks
Lian-Chu from Dragon Hunters (I'd say he's strong anyways)
Ban from Get Backers

Sanosuke Sagara from Kenshin

Obviously, the majority cast of the DBZ characters.

Also Sailor Jupiter/Kino Makoto should get a nod, too. She picked up a monster over her head before even transforming into Sailor Jupiter. That's pretty impressive. :anime:

Juggernaut, Rogue from X-Men: TAS
Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin
Thing
Hercules (Disney character)
Spiderman, Venom, Carnage from the 90's Spiderman series
Superman, Wonder Woman and other powerhouse bricks from the JL/JLU series
The Incredible Hulk
Louis Alex Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist
Toguro (Younger one) from YYH
Man, the list just goes on and on.

Mr. Strong, of Mr. Men. Despite it being obvious by his name, I have this feeling no one else was going to mention him...

^ Probably because not all that many of us have heard of the guy.

Where and when was 'Mr. Men' broadcast?

It was in syndication back in 1997-1999. While I'm not surprised people aren't as familiar with the cartoon show, there have to be a lot of us who've had the Mr. Men books, which were out in the 70s and 80s.

I remember the books, but not the TV show.

Each episode had three cartoon shorts about 5-minutes each, with one of the characters as the main focus. There were five real-life people who did short live segments around the cartoons as well; a mad scientist and an Igor-type character, a couple of clowns named Buddy and Pal, the Newslady, a gameshow host, an obnoxious moviegoer, and a bunch of other stuff.

The cartoons were cute, despite my being older than the show's target age range. The live action parts were mostly painful to watch, though. Had a pretty catchy theme song, though!

Who's acting clever, happy, or strong?
Naughty, neat, scatterbrained, or just plain wrong?
What a crazy co-commotion: Mr. Men and Little Miss.

Oh yeah.

Well, who's really funny, who's greedy, who's small?
Who's always in trouble? Who's bouncy who's tall?
Well, there's never been a group like this, Mr. Men and Little Miss.

Well there's bumpy and bossy, and tickle-you too,
They're dizzy and forgetful just like me and you.
They've got every kind of face; every kind of mood;
Sometimes so splendid and sometimes just rude!

Well who's always nosy, full of sunshine?
Such a chatterbox she'll drive you out of your mind,
Well there's never been a group like this,
Yeah, there's never been a group of friends quite like this,
So hold on to your hats,
For Mr. Men and Little Miss
