What happened to Braniac the last time we saw him on STAS?

I was just wondering about this because I was wanting to start a story string on Justice League involving him and I wanted to know what happened to him the last time so i didnt screw up.

Last time we saw Brianiac - he tried to kill Clark Kent as a youth. The Legion of Super-Heroes showed up and saved Clark and threw Brianiac into the sun.

But did they actually see him die?

No, but the viewers did. It showed him being transported just outside of the sun and then faling towards. We then saw him melt down to his exo skeleton and dissapear into the sun. But we did just see him in Superman Adventuees #64 (lamely called "Brainac Beyond") so he's still around.

I think he was blown up, if I recall correctly. I'll re-read the issue, but he always finds a way to sneak away just beofre his body is destroyed. I really wouldn't let this worry yeah - as he's been doestroyed hundreds upon hundreds of times. :)

In it is probably tons of backup bodies, that when say like, body#12 goes offline, on the ship #13 comes online and has the memory of the bodies before him
after all he's really just a mega-computer

Don't forget that THAT version of Brainiac started out in the 30th Century. The real question is what happened to Brainiac between his last "modern-day" appearance in "Knight Time" and his 30th Century appearance in "New Kids in Town."

By the way, Superman blew up Brainiac's spaceship (and of course seemingly destroyed Brainiac) at the end of the "Knight Time" episode.

I think that Brainiac was hunted down and removed from all computer systems...which brings us to the events of New Kids in Town, where the Brainiac android that went back in time was all that was left of him. His plan was to kill Kal-El and start his information gathering mission over (and if their was no Superman the current Brainiac would still be around...with his original data intact). So that would be why the Brainiac robot falling into the sun was so important to the story.
