Well over at Matt Wilson's blog, he gave it high praise, so this could be good.

A few months ago, I posted the thread above about Jono Howard's "The Very Good Adventures of Yam Roll in Happy Kingdom" from CBC coming to the US on Cartoon Network in April 2006. You also may have read about this from John Izen's website (including his bio) or Matt Wilson's blog. It had a great concept and I enjoy Ed, Edd, n' Eddy so I was looking forward to it. Then April comes along and nothing happens.
So...what's the deal?
Well, according to this:
Holy smokies!!! What a month. Yam Roll is finally winding down. We will be done the first season at the begining of August. Hard to believe we pumped out 78 shows! I am looking forward to seeing what the reaction is once it is aired on Cartoon Network (this fall).Yes! I'm glad they're airing it (unless they delay it AGAIN which would suck). Looking forward to seeing it on CN.
Oh yeah, on a related note:

I was kinda wondering where this concept went... though, 78 shows?
Wow.
Odd little show, to say the least. I wasn't particularly amused, but hey, it's just a pilot. And if Jono created it, it can't be all that bad.
Plus, it has Richard Horvitz. I think I'll give it a shot.

Wow.
I'm not totally surprised. Shows that you think might have limited concepts tend to get lots of episodes. Examples: Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Rugrats, Pokemon, Sazae-san, Doremon.

Yeah, but this show hasn't been running since the '90s. It's still kind of new, isn't it?

True. Although, could you churn out 78 episodes?
Also, Sazae-san was made in the late 60's in Japan with over 2,000 episodes and going. Same with Doremon, although that was made in the 70's.

True. Although, could you churn out 78 episodes?Course not. 78 pages of type, but never the same amount in episodes.
Also, Sazae-san was made in the late 60's in Japan with over 2,000 episodes and going. Same with Doremon, although that was made in the 70's.Again, wow.

That title is decisively weird, but so is 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' (it's a stretch, but just *try* to imagine how that would sound if you'd never heard it before.)
The content looks like a sushified translation of 'Sponge Bob Squarepants', which *might* just work. I'll probably give the show a look when it comes on TV (I can't watch the pilot online 'cause my computer can't find the plug-in.)

Something must be wrong with me. You all are so meh about it, but I think that's the funniest short I've seen in a very very very long time. I laughed throughout just about the whole thing! That was absolute genius!
