He shall be fondly recalled every holiday season, thanks to his wonderful preformance in 'A Christmas Story'. I particularly enjoy his hilarious conflicts with the neighbor's dogs, and with the furnace.

Oops, I didn't see the other post.

Now on topic, Darren was excellent in A Christmas Story; as a matter of my opinion, I think he made the movie what it was.

He was also good in Billy Madison.

I second on that post. You could also call him the king of the "B" movies.

Kolchak, the Night Stalker is a classic.
I never get tired of watching it.
It took some convincing to get to watch the show when I was a kid, but my mom wouldn't miss it so it amounted to putting off going to bed as long as possible and trying to keep the nightmares down to a minimum. And later it was one of the favorites reruns to stay up late and watch with my dad.
Which is funny, because to me his role in A Christmas Story was the most identifiable portals of a midwestern father ever.

I feel his greatness went under appreciated, but he'll be long admired.
RIP Darren McGavin.

This news is devastating to me. Darren McGavin was one of my all-time favorite actors. I remember when I was 12 years old, sitting in the audience of The Mike Douglas Show, an afternoon talk show that broadcast live from Philadelphia, watching McGavin, in his Kolchak suit and hat, doing a dramatic reading of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart". I can't tell you what an impression that made on my young mind, thrilling me and creeping me out at the same time. I liked The Night Stalker before that day, but after it, I became a fan for life.

:crying:

Always enjoyed his guest appearances on Gunsmoke and Rawhide.
Wish his Riverboat series was on DVD.
At least Kolchak is and those two movies are a pleasure to watch.
