Most of it is the same stuff we've heard before and typical publicity cheerleading, but there are some interesting hints here and there as well.
Speaking of GameCube, if you play a GameCube game on the new Revolution console, will you be able to use the Revolution controller or will you have to use the older style of controller?
Well, all of the GameCube games will be compatible only with GameCube accessories, so whether it’s a WaveBird or whether it’s a wired controller, you’ll only be able to play those titles with those accessories. Essentially what we’re saying is that Revolution titles are the only ones that will leverage the new controller.
That seems to shoot down some of the rumors that Twilight Princess will have extra Revolution functionality, as well as the pervasive assumption that the "shell" controller peripheral will be able to be used to control Gamecube games. If true, that would kind of stink to have to keep 'Cube controllers around for 'Cube titles in addition to shell controllers for shell-centric Rev games.
Most of the rest of the interview focuses on contrasting Nintendo's "game-centric" strategy with Microsoft and Sony's emphasis on consoles as media devices, with most other specific queries answered with a coy "wait for E3." He did say that more specifics regarding the Revolution virtual console and online strategy would be released at E3.
There's also an interesting bit where he says that it's "not unreasonable" to assume that the DS will be redesigned again (post-DS-Lite) a few years down the road.
